I don't know what it is about the International but I like it, perhaps it's the Stableford scoring system that rewards guys for going balls out and making eagles. A few years ago when Rich Beem won after holding off Steve Lowrey who double eagled one of the par 5's down the stretch was great!

So it's no major, no Tiger but it's still fun....who ya got?

I'll take Ernie Els.

I'll take Ernie Els.

I agree. Ernie is on the verge of breaking out, and he has a solid history in this event. I think the Big Easy is time to get back on the winning track on the PGA Tour.

I think this tournament is great, and I absolutely love the golf course. Tiger or not, this is a watcher for sure. And anyone that missed the Beem/Lowery duel a few years ago missed out on one of the most entertaining battles down the stretch of all time.

Ernie is a great choice, but I'm going to go with Chris DiMarco with a top 20 finish by David Duval. I played with a guy last week who claimed to be Duval's sometimes caddie and he was saying how much it meant to DD to play well before the home crowd.

Meanwhile, I'm trying to decide whether to play this Saturday or go out and watch the pros. On the one hand, I'm probably going to move back east this winter so this may be my last chance.

On the other hand, it's always more fun to play golf than to watch golf.

Not when it's 105 degrees outside. I'm staying in this weekend.

I love The International by the way. I watched the coverage today, and I remembered why Castle Pines is one of my favorite courses. It's not as easy as some may think either. There were some tough pin placements today, and I'm sure they will get even tougher. The course is beautiful and plays pretty respectable as well. Phil Mickelson really struggled today with his putting. He hit a lot of greens in regulation, but he was two-putting everything. Retief Goosen, Chris DiMarco, DL3, Freddie Couples, etc. all struggled as well. Couples and Love III really hurt their chances of making the Ryder Cup team. They need to shoot lights-out tomorrow. It will be interesting to see who holds up this weekend. Ernie, who was a lot of people's pick, is sitting well at +8 points.

I got Stuart Appleby as my main pick. A solid golfer who makes few istakes.

Off topic quickly...please can one of the American members tell me why you call it a double eagle when it's name is an Albatross?? This has bothered me for so damn long. PM me is the best way to do it so as not to get off topic. Thanks.

one off topic post ain't bad

the names like birdie, bogey, albatross, eagle, etc - are not part of the USGA (or R&A; as a matter of fact) rulebook. It's something that has been developed throughout the history. In Europe you have the Albatross as the name for 3 under par on a single hole - it didn't catch on in US... Why? You can only guess. Since the Eagle is american symbol - maybe nobody thought here, that Albatross is "better" than eagle ? I like Sarazan's name - "dodo" - according to this golf digest article : http://www.golfdigest.com/majors/mas...albatross.html

I want to give props to DLIII for bouncing back today after completely looking lost yesterday. Davis finished at +11 for the round today after going -4 yesterday. He will make the cut now and possibly put something together tomorrow. I didn't think he would bounce back after yesterday's performance.

And what the hell is wrong with CHIII? Something isn't right with him. He withdrew from his last tournament in the second round, and he is -13 for this tournament. Yeah, he would be sitting pretty at -13 in a regular tourney. Does anyone know if he is injured or something? He is too good to be playing this shaky.

Howell III was such a highly touted prospect when he first came on tour. Man he has gone by the way of Duval, Baker-Finch, Seve, and guys like that in a horrible way. He is a likeable guy too, just never has lived up to expectations, I hope he bounces back, he's a decent guy to root for.
