I have a terrible habit of going on Ebay and bidding on clubs I definitely don't really need, but the excitement of buying a new club is just too much for me I guess. So yesterday I was looking at a couple different putters and ended up buying this one, http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=STRK:MEWNX:IT .

I was trying out putters last week at golfsmith and tried the newer White Ice model and it felt great so I figured this one would probably be similar. I'm just wondering if I got a good deal or not, considering these clubs new are listed at like $275. I also saw there are two types, the regular black series and the black i series. Has anyone out there played with this putter before or know the difference between the two series? Seems the i series is a little more expensive for whatever reason and I looked on their website and noticed that this style was only listed on the i series section, making me believe I got a pretty good deal. Any insight on this putter would be appreciated.

You got a great deal there I'd say. I've actually been looking at that putter for a while and have been putting with it at Golf Galaxy for a while. I love it to death, but I don't think I can get it since I've had this putter for only about a year and my parents would go ape shit if I asked for this one....

I picked up the older #9 in my sig about 2 months ago and I am putting pretty good with it... maybe a little loss of perfection from 5 footers like I had with my mallet, but my distance control and touch is vastly superior.
My Clubs: Callaway FT-i Tour LCG 9.5° w/ Matrix Ozik Xcon 6 stiff; Sonartec GS Tour 14° w/ Graphite Design Red Ice 70 stiff; Adams Idea Pro 2h(18°) & 3h(20°) w/ Aldila VS Proto 80 stiff; Adams Idea Pro Forged 4-PW w/ TT Black Gold stiff; Cleveland CG12 DSG RTG 52°-10° & 58°-10°; Odyssey...

Check out the Cleveland Classic #2. Same style, no insert, milled face for a softer feel. Can be had for a song and I have one. Hasn't made it to the course yet, but inside feels good off the face.

I think I was actually looking at that during the auction. I like the feel of the #9 (currently play the #1), and was thinking about a black series, but then stumbled across a couple of Bettinardi's. Quick call to a pro friend who told me the older ones (pre Hogan) are the ones to have, and won one. Now I have to get it past my wife and into the bag.

In the Bag

Titleist 909f3 13.5* Aldila NV

Ping S57 3-PW KBS C-taper

Macgregor 52, 56, and 60 wedges

really nice flatstick you bought. i personally only like bladed putters but the sabertooth works well for me so i bought that one, it's all about playing with what you feel confident.
i have that same habit, i cannot stop looking at auctions for putters but the shipping price to europe makes it pointless to buy the putters on ebay instead of buying them from a pro shop here.

I have this problem too. I bid on all kinds of !@#$, sometimes not even golf related and in the back of my mind I pray for someone to out-bid me.

You're not alone. I've done that too - keep checking back - only 2 days left c'mon somebody else bid on this POS!!!

It's even worse bidding from Canada - I've payed $60 shipping for a 9 dollar club - ouch.

$20 to ship a putter? It only costs $9 to ship it Priority Mail (which is what he used). I hate it when some sellers try to make a profit on the shipping. A couple dollars doesnt bother me, but doubling the price???. That just irritates me. But you did get a good deal on it (if its not a counterfeit), so that makes up for the overpriced shipping fee's

    • Day 56: 4/19/2024 Okay, even though I'll be teeing it up in a tournament in less than a week. I couldn't find time to get to the range today.  I spent time on the indoor putting mat.  And I spent time in front of the mirror with my 7 iron. Then again later with the driver.  I also thoroughly cleaned all my clubs.
    • Just stumbled onto the article.  Totally random and thought it might be interested to hear other thoughts. maybe I am tired of all the LIV crap and  this just caught my attention.
