I recently read the Sand Trap review on both the new MPT-10 wedges and the MPT wedges they replace. I read the few comments on the differences, but I was wondering from you all if you thought there were significant differences. I am in need of a new 56 and 60 degree wedge and I can get two new MPTs for the price of one MPT-10. I really like the looks of the the new black satin MPT-10 but I don't know that a darker color and a tad more spin are worth paying nearly twice as much.

Thanks for the response. I have always been a huge Mizuno fan and own two sets of their irons. Another thing I am tackling is what bounce to get. I KNOW, this has been discussed elsewhere.

I'm a sweeper with all of my irons, shallow to no divot at all and I play fairly drier courses with heavier, thicker sand. If I think back on my sand shots, I usually hit it very well or catch too much ball and get the scull shot. All of this leads me to think I should get the 56.10, but most people think more bounce is better in the sand wedge. The other option here is the 56.14, which I could always bend to 55.13. I have no clue on the bounce of my current 56 Mizuno Faldo wedge.

As for the lob wedge, I currently have a Cleveland 588 which has 3 degrees bounce, but I've read the amount of camber on that club effectively produces the result of 8-10 degrees bounce. So I am debating on the MPT between the 60.5 or the 60.8. Probably better get the 60.8. Yet, if I do that I will have 52.10 (CG12), 56.10(MPT) and 60.8(MPT), three wedges all with nearly identical bounce. Hmmm.

Interesting. As I understand, you are more of a "digger" and you selected wedges with fairly low bounce.

Actually, a digger should being using high bounce. To stop the fat shots, to keep the club from digging too far. Course conditions here in Wisconsin change so much from course to course that I went middle of the road. Can't afford to buy 6 wedges to interchange for course conditions.

As a sweeper I believe YOU should be using low bounce to let to club dig a liitle so you make contact higher on the club face. Hard sand = low bounce. Soft deep sand = high bounce. I had a 54.13 Ben Hogan and loved it, Fried egg where I could only see a dime size amount of the ball...... NO PROBLEM. But I would try to use it for tight fairway and chip shops and hit them thin, too much bounce with the wrong camber I believe that kept the leading edge off the ground.

Thinking about ordering some of those scratch wedges come March or April. Did you see all of the gring options?

Yes, I did see those scratch wedges but I can get a whole set of 3 MP-Ts for the price of one Scratch. And considering that I need a new golf bag and a hybrid, I may have to go the more economical forged wedge route. My New Year's resolution is to be more practical and that I do not need another set of irons.

How do you like the 51.06 by the way? I have a feeling that carrying two Mizuno weges and one Cleveland might start to bother me. lol

I love it, great addition to my bag.... I get about 105 out of it on a nice easy full swing . 115 if I go after it, feels great, mine has the rifle spinner not the dg shaft.

Ended up buying two MP-Rs instead because they did not have the MP-Ts in the lofts I wanted. I got the 56.10 and 60.09 in black nickel finish.

They are good wedges. At first, I did hit a few of my partial wedge shot fat, but after that, they are great. I just had to be more aggressive with it. Mine are with Rifle 6.0's in my 51º & 56º, and a Rifle Spinner in the 60º
