Do not play Tiger Woods on Wii

Thread Starter
I had my swing grooved and was hitting my irons better than I ever had in my life. Got fitted for some new irons and couldn't wait to play. Weather turned too cold to play and I decided to fire up the Wii. My tempo is now officially ruined. I am such an idiot. Starting over on the fundamentals in the morning. I will never play that game again!

Re: Do not play Tiger Woods on Wii

I kick ass at it on Xbox 360, but my thumbs are always out of whack when I tee it up in real time after wards :-p ... But I am really good at it on 360.

Re: Do not play Tiger Woods on Wii

I play it on PS3. Love it and it's very addictive. My player looks like me and is currently wearing canary yellow rain pants because somehow it helps him hit the ball further. My goal is to acquire a set of clubs exactly or similar to those I own. My golfer just got the MP-R black nickel wedges and have some Mizuno irons and Bobby Jones fairway woods. However, I have to win the Duetche Bank to get the Bettinardi BC-1. That ain't happening anytime soon. By the way, what kind of moron actually goes to EA Sports online to purchase better clubs for their golfer?

Re: Do not play Tiger Woods on Wii

I agree, play a simulator. I played 3 holes on a big screenfor the first time, over the holidy's and it was only a fix. But my girlfriend gets us an hour of pracice and 18 holes at a very good facility nearby for valenitnes day... 32 day's to go, and then spring is just around the corner from then.

Re: Do not play Tiger Woods on Wii

I tried the sim recently. It was okay as far as experience but I definitely think that $15 for 9 holes is terribly overpriced. Perhaps it is lack of competition, as I only know of that one place and Golf Galaxy that offer simulator sessions.

Re: Do not play Tiger Woods on Wii

I don't think my Wii time is messing up my real swing. I am half way through the FedEx and still do not have as a sponsor yet so I cannot access my real clubs. I do not hold the Wii controler like a club, I play one handed. Some times I leave the set-up as righty but play with the controller in my left had to use my left arm as the controling arm but mostly I hold the controller in my right hand.
I would give anything if we had a sim in town but I do not know of one. There was one over 20 years ago and it was great... a whiskey sour and a driver. My winter fix is carpet putting.

Hey FHopper,
Not sure how far Hays, KS is from you but there is an indoor simulators set up to actually play 18 holes or evaluate your swing at Precision Valley Golf Center in Hays, KS. Here is their site:

Re: Do not play Tiger Woods on Wii

Ok, I'm about to make all you guys jealous.

I play PS3 as well once or twice a week, but I also happen to have a full blow simulator at our office.

A group of us of play a few holes everyday.

We're just finishing up a tournament on it actually. Pebble Beach, championship tees and advanced pin position. I finished 2nd with a 94, losing by 2 strokes.

It's been great to keep swinging all winter because winter is really long here in Montreal.

The only thing I found last year is the first round or two of the season on a real course I manage to top the ball...but it corrected pretty fast and my swing mechanics that I grooved in all winter fell right into place

I went from shooting +double bogey to bogey last summer. This summer I hope to play under bogey golf.

I've got a home simulator and it is a blast. I had a friend come over and we played our usual match, except this time we played it at Torrey Pines South Course. It was so much fun and it doesn't ruin your swing. In fact, a simulator used properly is a great practice and learning tool.

This is either a joke thread or that swing was not very grooved. Or you got the wrong irons.

Maybe you're playing the wii golf that came with the game (with the little 9 hole course, choice of 4 golf clubs, and mii character that has the floating mitten hands)?

If you're playing EA / TW golf, did you know that you can customize your character? Posture, stance, tempo, etc to mimic your on-course swing?

Re: Do not play Tiger Woods on Wii

You shouldnt have expected that a golf video game would be realistic enough to keep your swing in shape. Its a game, afterall; if they made it as difficult as the real thing, the non-golfing masses wouldnt be able to play it and have fun at it.

Re: Do not play Tiger Woods on Wii

My brother in law has the Tiger Woods for Wii - I have a Wii but I wont touch it and I just got the XBOX 360 version of it. Was afraid it was gonna mess me up! Now i wonder how my brother in law will do the next time I play him a round. :)

I have the exact clubs i currently and used to use. such as g10 driver, fairway wood, and well hah, just those two. the rest are still in the game. haha. it's fun. you all should play on tour pro, like the hardest settings. it's fun, but irritating at times. anyone has playstation network and plays tiger 10 online hit me up, my ps network id is dextor304

Re: Do not play Tiger Woods on Wii

I don't think anything can screw up my swing any more than it already is. (that ain't good english)

I use the Wii to keep golf gods satisfied during the long winter.
