Uh, so apparently Marvin Harrison is a bad, bad guy.

http://www.gq.com/sports/profiles/20...printable=true

I've read a few excerpts and I'll read the whole thing later on. If it's what I think I've read so far, yikes.

They did a story on it on E-60. The interview they did with Robert Dixon convinced me.

I never knew Marvin Harrison was different off the field. I always saw him and thought of him the exact opposite of how Dixon viewed Harrison.

Wow... read most of that article... very interesting. Nice DA's you guys have up there in Philly. Will be interesting to see if anything happens as a result of the civil suits. Also, interesting note about the many witnesses who have dissappeared through the years.

Nice DA's you guys have up there in Philly.

Who's "you guys"?

I'm like eight hours from Philly. I'm literally closer to Indianapolis (plus Bob Sanders is from Erie - a fact which the local media seems to enjoy shoving down everyone's throats...). I still haven't read the article yet. Shows how much I care about off-the-field stuff...

It sounds like the FBI is going to be looking into the whole thing now?

If the main witness that the GQ article was quoting for their story - would cooperate w/ the feds and tell them everything, along w/ the physical evidence already in place showing Harrison is at least involved in shooting a gun(s), then it's probably bad news for him.

As a Colts fan since 1995 this is very weird to me. Harrison was always strange in that he completely kept to himself and went out of his way to make sure no one knew anything about him. There was an article here locally in Indy a few years ago that tried to imply that he had always been debilitatingly shy and that that carried over into his conduct as a player. It looks like there was a lot more to it than that.

It isn't 100% clear that he ever actually did any shooting at this guy Pop, but it seems to me there's too much that links him to this story for him to be completely clean. It is really disappointing to read all this.

And yet we still religiously sit down on Sunday and watch these morons catch footballs, while corporate sponsors are raking in MILLIONS per minute.....

Im done watching football as of this past season. A bunch of no good (mostly, not all) thugs being paid so much money to make other fat white guys (again, mostly, not all) filthy rich, by getting the middle class (us, mostly) to buy up all the junk they are selling....

Dog killers, cheaters, murderers...... Great. Lets go watch some NFL...

No thanks

Too bad teachers, doctors, etc, people that change lives dont get millions and millions per year. Oh yea, theres no money to be made in that.

Wait, the O-Linemen don't get paid much...

Actually, i'm a little surprised this hasn't gotten more media coverage. This is like the answer (not quite sure thats the right word) to Spygate, except Harrison doesn't play anymore, though he never actually retired, i think.

Fat white guys as in corporate management. The people that have the money which made the NFL the big corporate conglomerate that it is.....

Without toyota, ford, budweiser, miller, gmc, etc.... the nfl would not be what it is today.

Sorry bout the pissed off feeling of that last post. I just get so mad when I read that stuff. I mean Harrison was probably a role model to so many people.......

I love the game of football too much to stop watching it. I don't like the way the NFL is run, but they supply the superior football product so I either justify or ignore what I don't like and go on watching.

And jamo you're right, Harrison never retired. He just very publicly stopped being a good football player so no one wanted him anymore.

I don't really see much correlation between this and spygate so I don't think I got your point there.

Sweeping statement?? I think not, just take a look at most of those guys records, you wont call it a sweeping statement. And also, if your gonna quote me, can you please quote me where I apologized for sounding so pissed??

Kleraudio, May I ask what percentage of NFL players do you believe have criminal records for you to use "most" or "mostly" ? There have been studies done on that question and accurate information has been published.

My problem was with your thinly-veiled suggestion that the facts point to "most" of the NFL's players are "murderers" etc. If you'd have gone with "spoiled" "overpaid" or "undeserved" then fine, that's your opinion. However, imo at least, the facts don't support what you imply and it's unfair to say otherwise with such a broad brush.

I can accept that. In the grand scheme of things (that are really important), you're playing golf these days and I'm not!. Plus it's cold as a mutha where I live. Period.

    • Last year I made an excel that can easily measure with my own SG data the average score for each club of the tee. Even the difference in score if you aim more left or right with the same club. I like it because it can be tweaked to account for different kind of rough, trees, hazards, greens etc.     As an example, On Par 5's that you have fescue on both sides were you can count them as a water hazard (penalty or punch out sideways), unless 3 wood or hybrid lands in a wider area between the fescue you should always hit driver. With a shorter club you are going to hit a couple less balls in the fescue than driver but you are not going to offset the fact that 100% of the shots are going to be played 30 or more yards longer. Here is a 560 par 5. Driver distance 280 yards total, 3 wood 250, hybrid 220. Distance between fescue is 30 yards (pretty tight). Dispersion for Driver is 62 yards. 56 for 3 wood and 49 for hybrid. Aiming of course at the middle of the fairway (20 yards wide) with driver you are going to hit 34% of balls on the fescue (17% left/17% right). 48% to the fairway and the rest to the rough.  The average score is going to be around 5.14. Looking at the result with 3 wood and hybrid you are going to hit less balls in the fescue but because of having longer 2nd shots you are going to score slightly worst. 5.17 and 5.25 respectively.    Things changes when the fescue is taller and you are probably going to loose the ball so changing the penalty of hitting there playing a 3 wood or hybrid gives a better score in the hole.  Off course 30 yards between penalty hazards is way to small. You normally have 60 or more, in that cases the score is going to be more close to 5 and been the Driver the weapon of choice.  The point is to see that no matter how tight the hole is, depending on the hole sometimes Driver is the play and sometimes 6 irons is the play. Is easy to see that on easy holes, but holes like this:  you need to crunch the numbers to find the best strategy.
    • Very much so. I think the intimidation factor that a lot of people feel playing against someone who's actually very good is significant. I know that Winged Foot pride themselves on the strength of the club. I think they have something like 40-50 players who are plus something. Club championships there are pretty competitive. Can't imagine Oakmont isn't similar. The more I think about this, the more likely it seems that this club is legit. Winning also breeds confidence and I'm sure the other clubs when they play this one are expecting to lose - that can easily become a self-fulfilling prophecy.
    • Ah ok I misunderstood. But you did bring to light an oversight on my part.
    • I was agreeing with you/jumping off from there.
