Hi folks - Wanted to see if anybody out there had an opinion on these 2 sets of irons. I got fitted yesterday and the Pro suggested that I go with a set of Ping G10s. I also demo'ed some Cobra SZ irons which I also liked.

The Pro seemed to be really be pushing the Pings, butI didn't get to hit the Cobras nearly as much as I did the Pings. Another factor is that I could save anywhere from $200-$400 if I went with the Cobras. The price difference isn't a huge factor for me, but it is a factor.

I am a 19 handicap and (when the weather allows) play about 6-8 times a month.

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks,

- Skip S.

Tested out the Ping G10 and I10 in Fall 2008, and again last spring. G10 gets the ball up really high - too high for some people, including me. Have met people who played G10 for awhile, and then traded them for something with less height.

If you need help on height, they may be just what you need. Or, it could be too much of a good thing. Just try G10 again and see.

Focus, connect and follow through!

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

Well I have experience with PING irons the most, but I'm not going to try to push them. However, I've played the parent company, Titleist, irons and the AP-1's are similar to size and play well. They are made out of the same 431 Stainless-steel and they have full cavity back so they must be similar. Give 'em a try if you wanna save money. Don't let your pro overtake your mind, hah if that made sense, believe me; lots of pro's try this to sell the old models. Tell him you really want to get a feel for the Cobra's before you make a decision. G10's are good, but they do launch a little high which is a turn off to most. Great forgiving club though. Follow your gut, not your pro.

Don't know about the SZ's but the FP's (previous model) are great clubs.

I've played with people with G10's and I've noticed a very high ball flight aswell
