Last summer I bought a Diablo 5 W regular flex (used but mint condition). Yesterday I bought the Diablo 3 wood regular flex. Both from Golf Galaxy.

I just noticed the shafts have the following specs:

3W: Mid Torque Low Kick 60G R Flex
5W: Mid Torque Low Kick 55G A Flex

I do know that there are three different stickers for shaft types: S=stiff; R=regular; and, L=senior. Or maybe L=ladies.

Does anyone know what "A Flex" means on the 5 wood?

Checked out the Callaway site, and found these specs:

Manufacturer.. Flex...... Weight... Torque... Kickpoint
Callaway Golf.. Light (A)... 55.......... mid....... low

Looks like Light and A flex are the same; I'd call GG to make sure.

Focus, connect and follow through!

i believe that L is ladies, and A is for amateur/senior flex....

Thanks guys, I'm sure you are right. The 5 wood is probably a senior flex even though it had an "R" sticker on the soul. It explains why it was so cheap: $90 and it looked like it was only used for 20 miuntes.

The only other issue I have is the Diablo head covers. They fit so tight it's a struggle to get them off.

Edit: In this thread "Shaft Mechanics..." there are two charts that indicate the letter "A" is used for senior or light flex while the letter "L" is used for ladies flex.

PC ALERT!!!-

"L" stands for "light" flex. The ball doesn't know what gender is hitting it and the club shaft doesn't either (not that I'm saying that they can think or anything like that, just sayin').
"A" is "Amateur" flex. These are all relative to the speed of the swing and have no bearing on age, sex, religion, race, etc, ad nauseum. There is no such thing as "ladies" clubs since the heads weigh the same as "men's" clubheads. Just because a club is shorter than "men's standard" (there are no standards in golf equipment) and is more flexible, has a smaller grip, etc. doesn't mean it's for females. I'm sure Anika, Natalie, and the rest of them don't play with "ladies" clubs.
Just sayin'

I guess it varies by manufacturer but there are four degrees of flex:
L = Light
A = Amateur
R = Regular
S = Stiff
X = Extra Stiff.
