I was just done playing in a tournament, riding back with my team when they started talking about my driver. They were telling me all these things about why i hit the ball so high and I lose distance. Ill tell you my specs and tell me what you think I should do. First I use a Cleveland Launcher 400 9.5 degree. Stiff stock shaft. ball speed at a local launcher moniter was 189 mph. i forget the club speed. My normal ball flight is like this: really fast for about the first 100 yards, then it flies into orbit and has about a 15-20 yard draw. My teamates told me to go with an extra stiff speeder. any thoughts?

any thoughts?

Yeah - I wish I hit it that far..!!!!!!

Seriously though, I'd go to a reputable club fitter and fitted again. They may be correct.

Eagle,

If you're putting up ball speeds in that range, you're swining at least in the 126mph range which makes you one of the elite in terms of driving distance. Very impressive. Secondly, stop listening to your friends, because they don't know what they're talking about. There are many different speeders designed to fit different swing profiles, so how do you know which one? Also, there are quite a few other shafts which will likely fit you far better than any of the Speeder models, and which are significantly cheaper. The retail Cleveland Launcher isn't going to be a good clubhead for you. I'd strongly urge you to switch to something that's at least lower spin if not lower launch. The first thing I would advise you to do is get to a good clubfitter and get some launch monitor numbers for your current launch angle, ball speed, and spin rate. From there you can pick a lower spin head with an appropriate loft. Then you can find a shaft that fits your swing characteristics and tempo much better. Good luck, feel free to send me a message if you need any more information.
