I'm considering dropping my 60* and adding a 2 hybrid. My option is either a 16* or 18* hybrid. Let's assume I hit my 20* 3H hybrid 190 yds average and my 15* 3 wood 220 yds average. I want to get in that 200-210 range with the 2H. What do you think would be a better fit, the 16* or the 18*?

Normally I'd go try these out but I'm going to have to order on line for this.

Thanks,

Kevin

I was leaning toward the 18*. The only thing I was curious about the 16* is that it should be a bit shorter distance wise compared to a 3 wood because of shaft length.

I'd go with what you do "normally" and wait until you can hit it in person - unless you're getting a great deal. I personally don't think you need to fill this yardage gap - hit a high cut or a 3/4 shot with your 3-wood. If you're thinking about keeping it down I'd go with the 16* - they don't have a 17*?

I have an 18 and 20 degree and really like that combo with a 15 degree 3-wood.

As do I.

What you should do is snoop around a store for a while one weekend and hit all the hybrids then go online and look for the one that felt the best. Personally I love the Bafflers. Depending on what brand you're looking at the 2H might be an 18 or 19 degree, so keep that in mind.

My other hybrids are Adams Pro Golds so I'd like to stick with those. I've been looking used on eBay. Lots of decent deals out there right now.

This is beside the point, maybe, but how many shots per round do you expect to need this club? The reason I ask is that you are giving up a scoring club in exchange for a perceived yardage gap that may only show up once or twice a round. For those 200-215 yards shots, have you tried choking down an inch or so on your 3-wood? That alone may be all you need to do.

Your handicap indicates that you hit some good shots out there. But your score will come down much quicker if you can "own" your 60*, and can stick some of those 50-70 yard pitches.

    • Interesting that Scottie is #10 on the all time money list and he's been on the PGAT for 4 years. Of course, purses are bigger now, but  neat to look at non-the-less.  The list of top 18 money winners in PGA Tour history has plenty of surprises This list is updated through the 2024 RBC Heritage. To add, Scottie won 4.5 million at the Players, Jack played 44 seasons and won a little of 5 million on course.
    • 43 (6 over) Couple bogies, couple Pars, a birdie and no doubles. Not bad for first 9 of the year.
    • Most the stuff I found on Instagram and just copy and mix it up. a few of my favorites: Clean>Squat>Press> March Around the body >catch >Squat> press I also hold a the kettle bell upside down with both hands on the handle. Squat when I stand back up I lift the kettlebell up over and behind my head and hold then repeat
    • Not sure this is the best thread but, if the rain holds off, today is my 1st round of the year.  Getting ready I can not find my Shot Scope.  I guess I put it away too well for the winter and thus that is may "Winter Depression".  I'm sure I put it somewhere that made sense at the time.
    • 44+39 for an 83. Figuring stuff out.
