Today I hit my drive on #5 into the thick rough between hole 5 and hole 6.

There's a little creek between the holes - lining the right side of #5 - so the rough has a constant supply of water. It gets crazy thick in the summer, but right now it's still dormant - but VERY long and shaggy from last year's growth.

I found my ball sitting up nicely on some of this shaggy, dormant grass. I had 155 to the middle. I ripped an 8 iron and my ball shot out cleanly (I missed the green left)...

...As my club tore through the grassy clump TWO MORE BALLS came flying out! They each went about 20 yards.

I've never done that in my life.

Just thought I'd share. Any golf anomalies you've been witness to or experienced first hand?

I missed a par 3 about 15 yards left. The hole has water down the entire left side. I was about 2 feet from the water but my ball was propped up about 4 inches in the air by a half a dozen pieces of straw like grass and I had about 10 feet of elevation to the green. It made for an interesting shot... felt like I was playing tee ball.

At the PGA event the other week that Camillo Villegas won, Aussie Nathan Green did that on the 71st hole! Was trying to hit it out of a water hazard, and picked up another ball with what was his 3rd or 4th effort (a bit of capitulation there...)

    • Day 35, June 8. Before leaving for work this morning (yes, I'm posting this quite late relative to the practice), I spent 15 minutes practicing at home, into a net.  This time, it was primarily 9-iron (full swings), with some UW (full and half) and a few 6-iron.
    • Day 73: just some mirror work today. Working on feels for being open and getting the front shoulder down.
    • I'm liking this. Finally getting down hands in front of my trail leg pocket consistently at A6 with much better clubhead position (relatively not as tipped out). I can really pressure the shaft through impact with good face control  from this position and stay in balance. Won my first one v one march 5&4 against a 4 hcp who routinely drives it 35-40 yards past me in the men's club match play . Frustrated him with some solid iron play and air tight putting.
    • Day 279 6-8  Worked on low point control skills work tonight. will be doing this for a few weeks. Tonight was just trying figure out how to get low point forward.  No ball.
