Re: How many wedges do you carry?

I appreciate this divergence in the conversation... I have a new bag of clubs myself and I am just totally guessing as to which ones I am going to keep in there and would love a little input. I have Cleveland HiBore XLi Hybrid Irons 3-PW (8 Clubs), 3 CG 14 Wedges in 52,56,60 - The little Niblick 47 chipper (this will not go in unless I figure that it will replace one of the other wedges or PW which it actually may, a HiBore XL 15 & a 17 Fairway wood and a Hibore XLS 11.5 Driver... And of course my Scotty Cameron 2.7 putter... So... what of these would you put in your bag?

Re: How many wedges do you carry?

4 wedges
Wilson Di7 PW
Wilson Di7 GW
56*
60*
I figure why not promote the best part of my game, my chipping(only because i can't really slice it while chipping)

Re: How many wedges do you carry?

Right now I carry 4 wedges that match my Taylormade OS2 irons a 45* PW a 50* Aw,a 55 *SW and a 60* LW, I am in the process of changing to a MB TP 48* PW ,a 54* MB TP SW and a 58* MB LW so I can add a 5W to the bag to fill the gap from 3w to 3 Hybrid. There are some courses that I play that the AW will go in the bag and a hybrid or fairway wood will stay at the house.

Re: How many wedges do you carry?

currently I carry 4, trying to only carry three so I can put the 4 iron back in the bag. A little help would be very helpful thanx

Option #1:
58* LW 8*bounce
53* SW 10* bounce(bent from 54*)
48* PW(bent from 47*)
all irons bent 1*weak
25* 4 iron would be my longest iron in the bag

Option#2:
58* LW 8* bounce
54* SW 11* bounce
50* GW 8* bounce
46* PW(bent from 47*)
all irons bent 1*strong
4 iron out of the bag
26*5 iron would be my longest iron

Note:
24* hybrid is in my bag 210yrds
currently I hit my 27* 5 iron 190yrds
Mentally 60*wedges just don't work for me.

Re: How many wedges do you carry?

I currently carry three Clevelands, but I want to cut it down to two as I have fifteen clubs in my bag, and I want to keep the longer half of my bag intact.

I love it when I see someone, especially a little higher handicapper carrying a chipper. I have a buddy who plays off of a strong 7 who will absolutely destroy you with his chipper from about 30 yds in! In your position, I'd get rid of the 60* wedge and hang onto that Niblick. When someone smirks at you, just smile and say something like "well, I'm not really a very good golfer, how much do you want to play for?".....!

You might consider dumping the 3 and/or the 4 iron too. Add an easy to hit hybrid in the 20*-22* range.......heck, as long as I'm at it, get rid of the 17* fw wood and get 2 hybrids. One 18* and one 22* and you're darn near set for life.

Re: How many wedges do you carry?

4

PW-Mizuno mx-25 46 degrees
GW-Mizuno Mp-T 52 degrees
SW-Mizuno Mp-T 56 degrees
LW-Mizuno Mp-T 60 degrees

my short game is by far the best part of my game, so I try to have as much an advantage as possible

Re: How many wedges do you carry?

I carry 52 & 60 degree Mizuno tour styles. Have a 56 as well but it's redundant most of the time so doesn't go in the bag.

Re: How many wedges do you carry?

PW, 56, 60. Thinking about possibly getting a 54/58 set up for my next set.

Re: How many wedges do you carry?

I usually carry 3-4 depending on which course I am playing at.

Why? becuase on any given day when I am playing with friends or walk in a total practice format, non league, non competitive in any nautre I COULD have any of those 17 in my bag?

Easy enough to play with 5 wedges and 14 clubs in a competitive format depending on the coarse played. I list the 17 available, the wedges never leave the bag.
