I went out for a round on Saturday, and got rained out on the first hole. The owner had left before we got back to the clubhouse. Do you think I should ask for a rain check, and do you think they will give me one?

It probably won't hurt to

ask for one. Most courses around here have a policy of no rain checks after leaving the first tee; out here, you'd certainly fall into that.

wouldn't get one here. If you choose to play with the possibility of rain that is your choice with the recognition that you may not finish your round.

I've gotten a raincheck before here in socal. I played a course during the first big storm we had this year and unfortunately around the 9th hole it just got too wet to continue playing.

They ended up giving my buddy and I rainchecks for half a round. Being that this was a 100.00 round that $50 was appreciated.

I guess it never hurts to ask

Last week I took a "Bee Check".

Got half-way up the first fairway before having to turn back because the fairways had been taken over by bees. It was so bad, you had to really watch where you stepped. The noise of the buzzing was really loud. I mean, there were THOUSANDS of them! My brother is allergic, and whilst I've never been stung myself, I wasn't going to take a chance for a game of golf...

The guy in the pro shop was good enough to give me a refund.

I went back today, and although there were still a few bees around the place, it was nowhere near as infested as it was last week. I almost didn't notice them.

Thanks for your advice. I might just chock it up as a loss. I guess I will watch the forecast a little better next time! I think they should give you a double refund for the bees!

My golf course will give you a rain check for the full 18 if you've been rained out on the first 4 holes, a rain check for 9 if you were rained out from 4-14 and no rain check after 14. We also only allow you to use your rain check after labor day.
