John Daly is playing some real crappy golf right now. He's missed like 7 cuts, and missed the cut in all the majors he played in. He's also withdrawn from like four events after shooting something like an 80 in the first round and quitting. I want to see John do well as much as the next guy, but man, is he playing bad.

Event Results.

Its a shame. One of the most talented guys in the world but something just doesn't click for that guy. If only he led a normal life and practiced I think he would be excellent.

I hope he isn't drinking heavy again! Beer is his downfall and he was drinking at age 5 I believe. He said his folks took him into the bars and fed him beer at that age. My....My!

Golf is not a game, it's a way of life!

What many people tend to forget is that John has never been a great golfer. He refuses to practice and take golf seriously. And why should he? He can make tons and tons and tons of money off of the course regardless of whether or not he ever makes a cut again. That is okay with him, as he is golf’s 'everyman'.

I mean, who can't relate? This guy has overcome so much. Time and time again he picked himself up when he was down. What is not to love? Let's ignore the fact that it is John Daly himself that keeps putting his life and his game into the gutter. We will just cheer when he picks himself up.

Personally my favorite athlete of all time is Lawrence Taylor. This guy was able to kick drugs FOUR times! Can you imagine that? Most guys can't even kick drugs once and many that do never are able kick it into high gear and get themselves into position to kick them a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th time.

I'm pulling for John to get back in the game as well. I think the guy is great - no bullshit, tell it likeit is type of guy.

It's not beer that's his downfall or big problem - it's the Jack Daniels - that's when things get bad.

Hopefully his current wife gets out of prison soon, they have sex, and he plays well again.

I understand why the guy is popular. His candor and big heart are admirable. I agree his golf talent is imense. But from my perspective this guy likely suffers from an untreated mental illness. I am not willing to be more precise on someone I have never assesed or tested. I am concerned that there are individuals who see big John as an example that it is okay not to seek professional help with the kinds of problems he has. If they lose jobs marriages and family relationships they don't have his income and celebrity to bail them out.

    • Day 2: did my Evolver drill in the mirror.  No club, just did the motion. And this time I am confident I am doing it correctly.
    • Nothing is assured and lots of talented young athletes in many sports fail to achieve greatness. as was said, injuries, growth, lots of things can come into play, And let’s let honest, over the years a few players have been branded “The Next Tiger Woods” and yet there is only 1 Tiger Woods. My initial point was if he can do a great breakout it may capture the attention of a new generation.  Back in the 70s it was Secretariat in horse racing, we also had Jordan in basketball and let’s not forget Tiger for golf.  Stories get people interested and I think golf needs a new story. I will pull for him and hope it works out but there are so many factors that come into play you just do not know, But I can hope.
    • Day 114: 4/19/24 Chipping and putting practice. Tried a little hinge and hold with good results, which has never been the case during a real round. Playing tomorrow and eager to play.
    • I don't think I've found any of the Good Good stuff, or the guys that were once a part of it, very interesting.
    • Day 535, April 19, 2024 30 minutes in the middle of the day while doing errands and a bunch of other things. Behind. Behind.
