Anyone have anything I can try to help rehab a pulled/strained muscle? It is on my left side on the bottom of my rib cage. Happened today on the 3th tee when I tired to get after one too hard. I had to pickup after the 4th hole and just ride the remainder of the round it hurt so bad to even take 1/2 swing. Really depressing as i know these can take a long time to heal. Any advice? I have already been icing it on and off tonight.

I hate to say it, but you have to take about 4-6 weeks off. I tried to play through it last year but it just delayed the healing.

Once it got better I started playing with a little soreness still remaining. Iced it as soon as I got home.

Have a rib injury now myself, been about 2 weeks and it still hurts. Just when I think it's better, I'll sneeze or move a certain way and the pain is ridiculous. Can't wait till this gets better.

This may be a blessing in disguise.

I would definately take some time off, you don't want to go on with the pain for longer than you must or have permanent damage. When I tore my left AC joint a few years back, my orthopedic doctor told me to wait until it feels 100%, then wait another 2 weeks before touching a club. In my case, that was 5 months.... should be just a tad shorter for you Anyways, I would use the opportunity to get some serious putting and chipping practice in! When you do get back out there, you're gonna be rusty from tee to green, but the wedge and flatstick can bail you out big time. Plus, once the rest of your game normalizes, you may even get down to a 2.0 or better

This is something odd for me. I've always been able to play with injuries. Jammed fingers, spranged wrist, dislocated finger, pulled muscle, you name it, I've played with it. I guess I just focus to the point that I don't care. But I'd say take two weeks off and ice it. And STRETCH

He's a bit younger than me, so he may heal faster, but my experience says 6 weeks too - especially when the pain is immediate.

I've had a couple of those injuries from playing hockey and one from playing golf - same recovery time for both - when I could finally take a full breath without wincing I knew I was recovering.

Wait until it doesnt hurt anymore might be 2 weeks. Then wait another week after that. Then stop immediately for a few days if/whenever it hurts again. Very frustrating I know.
