I'm looking for a new bag and these are the two I'm looking at. I like that both have the 14 dividers and I heard great things about both bags. They are about the same price so I'm undecided on which one to get. Anyone have experience with these bags?

I'm really satisfied with my SQ Tour bag. Its durable and has plenty of storage. The quick ball access is nice too. One downside: it doesn't like sitting in a cart. It tends to twist funny.

Make that two votes for the SQ Tour. I love mine. Oddly enough, I don't have that twisting problem in the carts at some courses, while others I definitely experience what you're talking about. Mild annoyance more than anything.

I've always heard those Sun Mountains are nice though. I dont think you'd go wrong either way.

I just played 9 holes with my Four5 (I've played 4 other 18 hole rounds with it) and the last two holes were in a downpour. Every thing is were it's supposed to go - happy with the purchase. Regarding some bags that have a putter well on the outside of the bag - that makes no sense to me. Who the H wants a wet putter? I'm not a fan of 14 way dividers, but this was the best design I saw - unless you're playing Zing 2s or Lynx Parallax or something (the heads take up a lot of space), there's really no need for individual iron slots.

I've been carrying the Four 5 for about a year now and haven't had any major problems. My biggest complaint is that the legs don't splay out very far so it is a bit tipsy at times. A stiff gust will blow the bag over without trouble and it usually does this right in the middle of someones back swing. My previous bag was an old Sun Mountain stand bag and it seemed a lot more stable.

Does the SQ have the top collar handle on the rim of the bag? That handle on the SM is nice and makes moving the bag around short distances a lot more convenient. The water bottle pouch is nice on the SM and makes staying hydrated easy, something that's important on those hot summer days. If you use an oversized grip on your putter (like the Winn Jumbo) inserting and withdrawing the club is kind of a pain with the dividers.

I think there's something to be said for a company that concentrates on one specific area. Although I've never had a problem with their product, I think you'd stand a better chance at warranty service with SM than with Nike.

Whoever came up with the saying, "A bad day of golf is better than a good day at work", is a moron.

**Vote for the SunMountain Four 5**

I have a Four 5 and have not found a better carry bag anywhere. It has the 10.5 opening at the top with 14 dividers that keeps your clubs organized very nicely…the legs work as designed…it has plenty of pockets for your needs and the carrying harness works perfectly.

I have compared it to the Nike bag and even owned a Nike SQ Tour for a short period in which I went right back to the Four 5…the main differences to me are as follows:

1) Harness – the one on the Four 5 is easier to manage and is more comfortable in my opinion

2) Top Collar handle – The Nike bag does not have one at all and this is an excellent feature on the Four 5 as it makes taking the bag off your shoulder and setting it down simpler and it is great (as bong_crosby said) for moving the bag around short distances.

3) Weight – the Four 5 is definitely lighter and though it may not seems that big a deal when you are comparing them at the store…when you load them up with clubs and carry them around there is a difference.

Now you may play Nike clubs and want a bag that goes with your clubs and that is understandable but like some else said making bags is what SunMountain is all about and they do a great job and no matter what clubs you carry you will be happy with the Four 5…just my 2 cents.

It took me approximately one day to get spoiled by that handle - my older Sun Mountains never had that.

PS. They make a pretty good umbrella too.

I walk and ride about 50/50 and I've heard some people complain about the Four 5 not sit in a cart right. Have any of you had problems with this? If u just have to turn it sideways then thats no big deal...just a minor nuisance. Right now I'm definitely leaning toward the Four 5.

I most always walk but this winter while in Phoenix for a couple months, I carted about thirty times and didn't have a problem. I also cart once a week for league here at home without issue. With that said, it's not meant to be a cart bag and so it's not a perfect fit.

One other thing I forgot to mention in my previous post is that I just recently started using a Sun Mountain Micro push cart and Sun Mountain does a great job of making their bags and carts fit togther like hand and glove. Something else to think about.

Dang I forgot that part on my earlier post...yes you can encounter some difficulties getting a FOUR 5 to work on certain carts but it will work...sometimes you will have to set it sideways or sometimes just tightening the strap a little bit works (holds it in place) but I have tested many carry bags and even though some of them work on a cart pretty good they SUCKED as a carry bag (not good harness, not 14 dividers or heavy)...so believe me it is worth the little bit of hassle that you may have to go through once in awhile getting your FOUR 5 on a cart versus all the pleasure it will bring you if you walk the course, practicing at the range or just simply going back and forth to your car each time you play or practice…good luck with what ever you decide.

+1 for the SQ Tour bag. I couldn't imagine designing a better bag to fit all my needs. Honestly, this is probably going to be the last bag I ever buy. If I need a new bag, this is the one I would buy over and over again.

Good luck with your decision.

The Four-5 is by far the best bag I've ever had. Not tried the Nike but it'd have to be good to be better than the Four-5.

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

I didn't tally the votes, but I think the Sun Mountain sounds like the better bag. I am wondering how the OGIO Grom compares to the two previously mentioned?

I tried to love the Ogio (better value?!?) but the legs seemed too light (i.e. flimsy) and the tiny feet would dig into the turf more. I know I'm picky - like shoe shopping with a woman.

Do you guys find your clubs chatter a lot more with a 14 slot bag since the heads don't "nest" together? I had a Sasquatch briefly and that was my experience with it which is too bad because I love the organization the 14 slot system provides....I'm very "particular" about having everything in its proper place.

Spot on - the number one reason I was not originally in the market for bag with 14 slots.

    • The dreaded 6 o'clock shadow. 🤣
    • 47+49 for a 96. Just lost it today. Two way miss off the tee. Could not hit a decent iron. Three putted like at least 8 holes. Not good when the short game is the best part of the day 😭😭
    • Phillyk is very close by. Ok, I understand how the watch and tags are meant to be used, but I was just curious how it actually works. I can't really think of any other way than what I mentioned above. No worries. If it works it works. I'll probably pick one up. My co-worker mentioned a free app called 18 Birdies which offers similar services. However I personally do not like keeping my phone in my pocket while golfing, nor do I want to be clicking around on the phone while out on the course. I toss my phone in my bag and leave it there until I am done golfing. Tapping a club head to a watch seems wat more convenient.
    • Yes, but not always the case. IMHO, green speeds are a huge variable and can effect score variation from week to week or month to month significantly. Our own course that is running at about 8-9 depending on the week/day, can run up to 12 (no kidding) in peak months around certain event, and most like me score 3-4 shots higher on an average, missing a lot of 3-4 footers. There are any PCC adjustments that I am aware of. Have you every played their course? I am betting $20 you will find some answers if you haven't already.
