For whatever reason, the MP57 3 and 4 irons are getting to be a pain in my side. Play the ball normal in my stance and the ball flight is way too low.... play the ball up and the ball balloons on me. The gap between my 5 iron and the 3/4 ends up being worthless on the course while the gaps between 5 - PW are quite nice. Rather than change my swing, Im thinking of changing clubs.

I'd like to stick with Mizunos, but may try something in the MX series. Im not too fimiliar with those, so I'm looking for suggestions on a 3 and 4 iron in the MX line.

have you tried the mp fli hi long irons??

i carry a 21* cut muscle fli hi and its actually quite easy to get the ball up in the air...

took a few rounds to get used to the offset and wider sole, but once i did, it became a lethal weapon on tight par 4's.

Good point. I actually had the 18* model for a short time last year. It never really came out of the bag, so I sold it to a partner of mine that really liked it. Never swung the 21* or 24* models though.... I may have to ebay one.

If he cant hit his 57s very well, he isnt going to have much better luck with the MP Fli-Hi. A better, choice would be the CLK.

The fli hi long irons are a lot easier to hit than long irons from mp 57s and the hybrid route isn't a bad idea. If I carry a 3i I still break out my 3i from my mx 23s.

You could go with the MX 23, 25, 200, or 300. They are all forged. Or, as someone else said, the Fli Hi's, though I am not really a fan of them.

It's not that I can't hit them well.... solid contact is not a problem. The problem is that I just don't like the ball flight they produce. I absolutely hate the size and setup of hybrids, so the CLK is out.

I may be better served by trying a different shaft in the irons first. I think I may go somewhere that has the Mizzy shaft optimizer before I throw them out of the bag all together.

I think the 23's and 25's are cheap enough that I may get one of those to try as well.

The good (Or bad) news is you have plenty of options including the ones already provided.

I have an MX300 4 iron in my bag that I alternate with MX-700 23˚ and 20˚ hybrids. I find them all really easy to hit and good options instead of the MP-52 4 iron that I struggled with.

I know Brian Gay plays MX 900 3 and 4 iron. Don't know much about these but I think they're a couple of years old so may be harder to track down.

Then you have MX 200 - much more forgiveness but has a fair bit of offset compared to the MP 57s and much chunkier to look at.

The MX 300 is closer to your 57s, not much offset, with more forgiveness than the 57 but less than the 200s. Looks pretty good at address but noticeably thinker than the 57s. Different satin finish too if that matters to you.

The MX 25 is basically the same as the 300 but the preceding model as far as I understand it so should be cheaper.

The MX 1000 is Mizuno's super game improvement irons (Not Grain Flow Forged), worth having a hit but will probably take some getting use to - Super Game Improvement = Super Chucky but also means Super Easy to hit. No 3 iron available but the 4 iron is only 22˚ loft so this is almost the 3 iron loft (21˚) in the 57 Series.

Personally I find the versatility of the hybrids a good choice, you can hit them high or low and are a great option off the tee.

Thanks pherg, that's the kind of info Im looking for. Coming from blades to the 57's after my AC joint tear was hard enough... I definately don't want something super huge like a SGI iron or hybrid. Forgiveness is not something Im really needing... just a little different ball flight. Basically something that launches a little higher and doesn't balloon. I'll check out the 25's and 300's for sure.
