Steel shafts for fairway woods?

Why don't people play with steel shafted fairway woods anymore?
I switched to one recently and I'm noticing much more accurate shots (could be the stiff shaft too) and not much of a change in distance.

Is 5 more yards really worth a loss in accuracy?

My Clubs
Driver - LV4 10* R flex
Wood - sam snead persimmon 2 wood (for windy days)

I have TT DG R300 in all of my fairway woods(3,5,7), I just prefer the feel of steel. I did have the stock graphite in my Nike Dymo2 3 wood, but changed it out a couple of weeks ago.

In my  Warbird Hot stand bag:
nike.gif Dymo2 Str8 fit 10.5 or  HiBore XLS 10.5,  Steelhead Plus 3 and 5 woods,

 NP2 3H,  DCI 990 4-PW,  Forged + 54/12,  RAC 58/8,

 Classic #1,  NXT Tour or  Burner TP

I can't tell a difference? Maybe if you're hitting the ground pretty hard after you hit the ball (or right when you hit it?) you'd notice? I have stiff steel shafts in my irons and I have to admit I like them because it feels like even if I catch the ball a touch fat the shot works out fairly well due to the resistance of the shaft, so maybe you'd get that with the fairway clubs? I try to sweep my fairway clubs rather than take a heathy divot so I don't see much interaction there with the turf.
