Apparently The Squires is now closed and is in the process of being converted to a natural wildlife preserve. I went over to Hawthorn Hills to try and play as a solo walk-on and link up with a short group this morning but no such luck. So I figured I'd head towards home and swing by the Squires to see how busy they were, they were not busy at all, not a car in the lot, course closed, bummer.

There was a sign on a railing saying "Your Recovery Dollars at Work" and a web address on it, www.recovery.gov . On the clubhouse door there was a paper sign for the county stating something about the wildlife preserve program.

I almost felt like grabbing a club and a couple of balls and playing the first fairway, but I didn't want to get arrested.

Oh well, another course gone, I don't know any more of the story about what brought it to this.
