a lot of people on here use 1 type of ball because of distance or spin or whatever, i never used a certain ball, i thought it didnt matter what ball i used it was going to spin the same, go the same distance, i thought they all were the same.

now that i know there are differences im looking to find that ONE ball that suits me the best.

now price isnt that big of a deal even though of course the cheaper the better :)

but im looking for a ball with a lot of spin and check. Right not when i strike a ball good with a wedge it will usually get about 2-3 foot of forward spin. Is there a ball out there that with that same shot have no spin or backspin?

also on wedges from like 30 yards out it seems like i cant really get it to check up, everytime it hits the green and seems to just roll forever.

what would be a good ball for me?

Just try out any premium ball.
Your best bet for mid ranges are like ONe blacks, NXTs (my two favs), noodles
More expensive
I like prov1s, taylormades or any of the ONE platinums and such
there are a lot of other great ones though

i just did an online ball fitting for bridgestone and came up with the B330 RXS ball, it said it is a ball with a lot of spin and for swing speeds for around 105 and lower. sounds liek a pretty good ball for me.

does a ball with lots of spin go hand in hand with a ball that checks well?

Not that my 18 handicap really has any solid advice to offer except this. I'm a cheap bastard and I loose a TON of balls. Used to boat on a lake that bordered a golf course, so we spend many days walking the shoreline picking up thousands of balls. To this day I've never actually purchased a golf ball.

That being said, I do separate them into brands and types, and try to play the same ball type all day long. The reason I bring this up, is that I can get a ball to stop on a dime with a wedge playing used Titleist, Slazenger or even Top Flite. I'm wondering if some of the problem with your ball running out isn't technique or your wedges. Not saying a good soft ball wouldn't help, but it might not be the major issue, and a super high spin ball can make your misses with your longer clubs worse.

And just in case you're wondering, the NX balls in my sig are the ones my pro told me would fit my game. As soon as I run out of my lake balls, that's what I'll be switching to

Just started to play the new Wilson Staff FG Tour..... Friggin awesome ball love it to bits!!!

Its supposed to have been designed to spin even with the CC grooves of the new wedges... All I know is I have only managed to lose 1 ball in about 10 rounds and they seem to hold up heaps better than other soft urethane balls I've played...

Cheers,
Dek

It would help us greatly if you told us what ball you currently use. We can't make any comparisons/suggestions without this info.

Slice I am currently going through the same trials and today my trial pack arrived from lostgolfballs.com

it came with

3 Nike One tour
3 Callaway I
3 Titleist Pro v1
3 Bridgestone 330rx

I am going to play rounds with each type of ball and see which one fits best. In the end unless a company is paying for you to use their ball I would just try them out and see what you feel most comfortable with. I suggest going to lostgolfballs.com and ordering a sample pack

Good wedges & a good 3 or 4 piece ball is the only way to get the spin you are after, plus the perfect swing etc etc.
PROV1 / Nike ONE Tour / Penta best top priced
NXT Tour / Callaway HZ / e6 next best

Vokeys or Clevelands for the wedges...

see i dont use just one ball now, for christmas i got about 12 pro v 1s, i have some bridgestone, nike but i never really notice any differences probably because im not looking for any, i just pull a ball out of my bag and use it for the round.

i will definitely look into some different balls, right now im thinking either Bridgestone e6-7 or b330

I always played prov1, then i found a b330 on the course. I gave it a shot, i hit it further and it checked up on the green lovely for me. I just bought the b330s to give it a shot. If it don't work out, i will buy the b330 for now on. No more prov1 for me anymore.

If you already play the pro v 1 and don't get enough spin for your liking, you aren't going to find a ball with noticeably more spin. You will have to change/fix your swing for that.

Keep in mind that spin is not all based on the ball you use. A lot of what spin has to do with is swing especially close around the greens, like you mentioned trouble stopping balls inside 30 yards. Spin around the greens is more indicative of soft hands and hitting down on the ball (without chunking it of course). Myself for example, I opt to play more of a lofted shot around the greens as oposed to the pitch and stop becuase i struggle with stopping the ball with my current swing, no matter if its a proV or a RockFlite (ok so there is a difference there but)....You might want to try working on your pitch shot swing as opposed to finding a cure-all ball...cause there isn't one...

i will definitely look into some different balls, right now im thinking either Bridgestone e6-7 or b330

The Brisgestone e5 is the cheapest urethane ball out there. It's provides high spin along with higher trajectory. It's a good ball and if you're looking for more spin it's the e series ball for you. Naturally Bridgestone's B330 series is their top of the line, but the e5 is pretty hard to beat for the money.

Judging by the title, it seems like you may be interested in the Nike ONE balls.
