ok, so had my lesson with my pro today and after about 5 shots he knew what was wrong he clocked my swing speed with driver at 104 mph and unless iam tiger woods i wont be rolling the wrists in time to hit a draw so he had me do something else which i got the hang of in about 100 to 180 balls so iam back to right down the middle

Good one, pity you're a week too late to qualify for the open...

no just no

Re: the slice is gone!!!

because rolling the wrists is inconsistent and gets more inconsistent the faster and longer your swing is.

Re: the slice is gone!!!

Rolling your wrists to fix a slice is an easy way to cause a duck hook
Basically You can never consistently hit the same straight shot or draw, its not as bad as a slice but its like a cheating way to fix a slice.

No, you're not, you're making stuff up. No tour pro that I know of rolls the wrists.

Sergio's "roll."

Draws are hit with an open clubface, and most pros don't even realize that. You will never fix a slice by rolling the club over, all you'll do is create more problems. You've had several meltdowns here already, and I can see why. You're working on swing fundamentals that are nothing but band-aids and quick fixes. Once your timing goes off again, you're going to be duffing and shanking again. You're going to have another meltdown if you keep trying this rolling the wrists. You need to develop sound fundamentals and eliminate timing from the swing as much as possible.

I am surprised how often we have to show this concept...

I know this well, the amount of times i nutted a tree dead center because i used the old methods... ;b

Not really, no.

And if you want to try to swing like Jim Furyk, be my guest. He's the only guy in the world that works for, but you go ahead and try to be #2. (BTW, Jim doesn't flip until well after impact.)

Re: the slice is gone!!!

If you are slicing, stop coming over the top. Using the "AJ Way" of rolling your wrists may work for now, but it is a band aid fix and wont last. Trust me and everyone else on this site who have experienced the same problems. Fix it the CORRECT way now, and save yourself a lot of future grief.

Re: the slice is gone!!!

You are not fixing anything, on the contrary, you are just adding another fault in the swing, which will just make your game even worse in the long run.

But good luck...

kevinbomb, i am really tired of all the threads you make, moaning, and the arguments you start.

Re: the slice is gone!!!

Great, and here I was thinking that this thread would cure my slice :). The only thing I've ever found that helps contain my slice is slowing down my swing. When I rush thru it or try to crush the ball I get in trouble. When I just slow down and concentrate on making a smooth swing I tend to hit down the middle.

That's because your arms dominate when you try to crush the ball, and your lower body dominates when you make a smooth swing. It's all about leading with your lower body.

You're right. When I swing too hard or fast it feels as if my wrists are out of control. When I slow down my whole swing just feels tighter and more in control. Now if I could just fix the 100 other things wrong with my game.
