I'm all for fairness and I believe that Elin surely should be compensated! But is 3/4 of a Billion really necessary!

I think that number is over inflated by the media. I seriously doubt she can get that much.

Most of Tiger's net assets were made before he married Elin (4 years ago?). That means, if there is NO prenup, she is entitled to 1/2 of Tiger's assets that were made during those 4 years--NOT based on his total assets to date.

I think its mostly baseless rumor. I think its no conincidence that divorce rumors have sprung up with his tournament being held on the 4th of July weekend. Alot of self rightous uppity type are probably enraged by this. Somebody also told me that the 750 mil is for elin to keep quiet because Tiger was really having sex with men..

We don't know the details of the proposed settlement but it could include an amount that buys her out of spousal support (alimony) and any future earnings made on investments created while they were married. Child support will be big and that will be a separate discussion that the court will put its approval on. The court is there to protect and represent the children to the other two parties.

I'm surprised its moving along as quickly as it is, they must be doing quite a bit of negotiating pretrial. Family Court everywhere is very busy and things get drawn out a long time. My D took almost 2 years and neither of us protested an even split.

Been there, done that. I can always tell who hasn't.

From what I heard on ESPN radio, Tiger is not even worth 750 million dollars anymore. His net worth is more like 500 million and she would probably get no more than 40% of that. That number is about 200 million. The 750 number is a bunch of crap from what I have heard.

Eh, however it works out, I doubt either of them will have to suffer the indignity of flying commercial for the rest of their days.

Tigger's biggest financial faux pas, by far, was coming out for Buddha rather than JC, though. A little teary public repentance, a couple of the right interviews on the Praise Channel, and he could have gone on the road with a combo tent revival/trick shot show that would have made him more money than Mel ••••ing Gibson.

If there is a prenup the judge can set it aside if he feels that Tiger benefits from it improperly, as in you had 50 girlfriends, so should not receive the protection of a prenup. Perhaps Tiger has other issues he wishes to have buried, medical ones perhaps? Other children not publicly acknowledged, inside Knowledge of his business affairs or perhaps performance enhancing drug use. None of these have any basis in fact, but these are the kind of things people try to keep out of the public domain. Someone like Tiger would hate the loss of control over information about him if nothing else.

Typically, to get a pre-nup enforced, you have to demonstrate that you were serious about the marriage. His ill-advised provisionals suggest otherwise.

That having been said, can anyone point to a reputable original source for the $750mil? I saw one story last night that referenced a tabloid as its source.

I don't believe standard pre-nups apply in the case of marital infidelity. They are to protect marry-rich-and-divorce-young abuse, not to protect all possible earnings throughout a marriage. I believe that the standard pre-nup is invalidated in the case of infidelity, because the other party has legally-recognized justification beyond just mere selfishness for leaving their partner.

I would assume that a pre-nup could be written to cover any case, but I think it would specifically have to mention this case. If it didn't, it woudl

How do you think he paid for the home and the cars? Why shouldn't she get anything that was by the way of golf? Was she not standing by him and following him to all of the tournaments? Did she not support him or sacrifice the time he was away with golf, etc...? I don't think that's a good argument in this case.

to think he is the only one having an affair is idiotic. does it make it right, no, but i don't think she deserves anything near six figures. I don't get how a law suite againts a doctor yields a few million, but she gets 10x that amount because of a divorce, thats idiotic. She derserves 500K at most. If i was tiger, i would say here take 10 million, the kids are taken care for your taken care for, i will send you the child support payments later. I don't think she has to the right and i don't think its right to use the judicial system as a way to get revenge.

Tiger had his fun and it's time to pay the bill... Both are going to leave this marriage very wealthy and she deserves every penny she gets from him. Tiger will continue to make a lot of money and he can stop this facade. Then he will get back to winning... all is happy

So, if a police officer's wife divorces her husband, she should not get anything that he earnt from being a police officer?
