Friday Morning Fourball:

- 8:00AM Padraig Harrington/Colin Montgomerie (EUR) vs. Tiger Woods/Jim Furyk (US)

- 8:15AM Paul Casey/Robert Karlsson (EUR) vs. Stewart Cink/J.J. Henry (US)

- 8:30AM Sergio Garcia/Jose Olazabal (EUR) vs. David Toms/Brett Wetterich (US)

- 8:45AM Darren Clarke/Lee Westwood (EUR) vs. Phil Mickelson/Chris DiMarco (US)

I like our chances in the first match and the last match. I think the 2nd match might be a toss-up and I think we'll get hammered in the 3rd match.

Prediction after Friday morning: US - 2 : Europe - 2

I also like us to win the first match, but don't like the our chances at all in match #4. That Clarke/ Westwood teams scares the crap out of me for some reason.

For that matter, I don't like any of the matches in the morning except Tiger/ Furyk. I hate to say it, as I'm bleeding Red, White, and Blue, but I see a 1-3 or 1 1/2 - 2 1/2 disadvantage after the morning session. If we are gonna get that second point, I think it is the second match in a squeeker- with JJ Henry playing out of his mind.

I saw the matches playing out this way:

- Woods/Furyk d. Harrington/Montgomerie -> (US 1 : Eur 0) - Cink/Henry h. Karlsson/Casey -> (US 1.5 : Eur 0.5) - Garcia/Olazabal d. Toms/Wetterich -> (US 1.5 : Eur 1.5) - Mickelson/DiMarco h. Clarke/Westwood -> (US 2.0 : Eur 2.0) Clarke has been away from playing for a little bit and I think it'll be too much trouble for him to come back and play in much the same way it was tough for Tiger to come back to the US Open. Mickelson may be a moop in the Ryder Cup, but DiMarco's fire and intensity should get Philly boy pumped and able to play at least a few decent shots. TGC has been talking all week about Tiger's "motivation" in this cup thanks to the stupid Irish newspaper article about the wives. We all know what happens when Tiger gets angry (see Stephen Ames 10&9 or Vijay Singh's 3-shot lead at the Deutsche Bank Championship) - all he needs is something to focus his determination on and who could be more perfect a representative of the Irish idiot media than Paddy Harrington? I love Paddy and very much enjoy watching him play so that's not a knock on him... I just think he's more of the "sacrificial lamb" on this one.

i have a feeling its more bad news for tiger & co.

I think i read that the conditions are terrible- and much more like Open Championship conditions. Could play to the advantage of the "bad guys"

I think US gets swamped tomorrow- but I hope not...

- 8:00AM Padraig Harrington/Colin Montgomerie (EUR) vs. Tiger Woods/Jim Furyk (US)

US 1, Europe 0

- 8:15AM Paul Casey/Robert Karlsson (EUR) vs. Stewart Cink/J.J. Henry (US)

US 1.5, Europe 0.5

- 8:30AM Sergio Garcia/Jose Olazabal (EUR) vs. David Toms/Brett Wetterich (US)

US 1.5, Europe 1.5

- 8:45AM Darren Clarke/Lee Westwood (EUR) vs. Phil Mickelson/Chris DiMarco (US)

US 2.5, Europe 1.5

That's how I see it. Garcia lights it up in the Ryder Cup. The last pairing worries me - Mickelson has been playing like crap lately. But in fourball, we have a bit of an advantage. The two rookies - Henry and Wetterich - can hunt for birdies all day while their partner safely plays for par. Two plodders - Toms and Cink - should do that. So perhaps the point I have us losing in match three will offset any possible flat play by Phil Mickelson in the fourth match. I think if the US rookies can play .500 ball, the US team should win the Ryder Cup.
