Re: best golf courses played

Some of my favorites:
Fazio Course Pronghorn (Oregon)
St. Andrews Old Course (for the history)
Castle Course, Scotland (for having the most hair pulling greens on the planet.. seriously dead baby elephants buried in their greens)
Kingsbarns (Loved the course)

I want to get out to Pumpkin Ridge sometime soon though

Re: best golf courses played

Top 5 courses ever played:

Bethpage Black - Long rough, long course, amazing experience. Birdied 5 from the fairway bunker on left, only highlight. 4 is maybe the greatest hole I've played.
Lahinch IRE - Only true links course I've played and man is it truly a links course. 50 F with 30 mph wind but survived.
Kaluhyat, NY - Quite possibly harder than Bethpage with the whole course basically in the middle of a swamp. Missed shot = lost ball. Shotmaker's course.
Sagamore, NY - Long for a 70. Elevated greens and beautiful layout. Greens were ugly though.
Poipu Bay, HI - Beautiful course along ocean. Windy. Warning sign saying "you will reach the group in front of you in the fairway!" 330 yd drive.

poipu was actually a big disappointment for me. didn't compare to either princeville course or even kauai lagoons

Re: best golf courses played

When I lived in the Bay Area I played Pebble Beach, Spanish Bay, Poppy Hills, etc.

Pebble was great, but I loved Poppy Hills. Great course!

Brown Deer Park in Milwaukee was a fun track too.

Re: best golf courses played

I grew up in MA and was surrounded by a lot of the old, classic courses.
My list:
Bass Rocks GC- Gloucester, MA (Grew up at this course. Dad was a member)
Essesx County Club- Manchester, MA (6th club to join the USGA)
Myopia Hunt Club- Hamilton, MA
Salem CC- Salem, MA
TPC Sawgrass (Monday after The Players. Damn those greens are glass!)
Angel Park, NV (Mountain course)
Brandermill Country Club- Midlothian, VA
Any course, anywhere, as long as I can tee it up with my dad.
