Recently i have been hooking my hybrids a great deal. So much that i have taken laying up with a 5 iron on Par 5's opposed to going for them in 2 with my 2 hybrid. I was told a while ago that with hybrids if you stand further away like you would with a wood they have the lower penetrating flight and go further and when standing closer like an iron the act like that. It seemed to work but recently when i set up like a wood i just hit a massive hook. Any comments or ideas to straighten me out. I love hitting my hybrids so im not getting rid of them. May i also state that the shafts are regular and everything else i have is stiff... should i get them reshafted? I was thinking ust irod shafts.

I'm by no means a pro. But one tip that I hear a lot with woods and hybrids. Give it a full smooth swing. no herky jerkyness. See if that helps.

Most hybrids, including the ones you have listed, have faces that are shut tight. That's why so many good players hate them. I carry a 2 iron, but I would consider a hybrid that sits open at address. The Nike VR and the Bridgestone J38 hybrids sit open.

Bingo...this plus flipping = massive hooks.

The new Mizuno MP CLK's also sit slighty open.

Shanks is right, a lot of Hybrids ( like mine ) come with a slightly closed face. I open mine slightly and it works pretty well

Same here - the hybrid is the easiest club in my bag to hook.

If you tinkered with your swingplane by standing closer/further away, check if you setup is correct and you dont swing too flat (under - not around).

From what i've noticed there is a great disparity between shaft flexs too
Like an adams stiff shaft felt like a reg
A nicketn felt like an extra stiff
so on and so on.
I bet its too flexible

You might try hybrids with a Tour model head. Tour heads tend to be straight, vs. draw-bias. Other posters have complained that hybrids are "hook machines" - possibly draw-bias heads and didn't know it.

On demo day, did a launch-monitor test with Callaway Edge and Edge Tour hybrids.
* Edge = 2 draws, 4 hooks
* Edge Tour = 3 draws, 3 fades

My irons are perfectly fine. Then again they are being shipped at the moment with stiff steel shafts. As i said before i was thinking getting them reshafted with ust irod shafts, would this be a decent shaft? Is there also anyway to possibly just "open up" the clubface. Whether that be with set up or actually bending the head or something.

Are there any videos of flipping? I here this all the time but have no idea what it actually looks like... I've been told I occasionally flip and still don't know what it is...

See the picture below. Notice the bend of the left wrist? That is what is called "flipping".

You want your left wrist to be bowed slightly at impact. Notice how Hogan's position is different? This is what you want. This one position, when combined with hitting the ball first, will do more for power/accuracy than probably anything else in the golf swing.

These thought are on the money. Hybrid shafts are longer than the corresponding iron shaft (at least mine are) and it is easy to swing the right shoulder around and through rather than down and through.

My 2h (picked up at play it again sports) is a Nickent like the OP's (a 4dx though). I call it the hook-o-matic. Never had the guts to use it on the course - I only hang onto it because I want to use the shaft for my WS Fybrid (maybe). The Fybrid is neutral and plays more like a long iron.

That's why I use a 2 iron. My Bridgestone 2 iron is super easy to hit, and I like it a lot. It's got a Rifle 6.5 shaft, which is so much easier to control than any graphite shaft out there. I'm also looking to get a fade biased 3 wood with a rounded sole. I'm too upright for the flat bottomed 3 woods that many companies make these days.

If you are looking for a non-flat-bottomed sole, maybe try the Nike Dymo. The sole on that is more "pointy" than anything. Sort of Taylor Made Raylor looking.
