Little Help From our Euro Tour Followers?

Need a few boys flying under the radar on the Euro Tour that will make the cut.......Robert Rock....Quierros (the bomber, of course).....Ross Fisher, is he in form? What about the big brit, Chris Wood.....

Rhys Davies? He's been playing well...Molinari brothers?

Fisher is not in form at all, having a very poor run.Alvaro Quiros could drive half the greens at St.Andrews but his putting might not be good enough.Chris Wood did well at the Open last year, but again he's not done much recently.I'd be looking for players who do well in bad conditions, if the forecasts are to be believed.

Here are some I'd be thinking of :

As the previous poster said, Edoardo Molinari.The lesser known and lower ranked of the two brothers, but he won last week so he's not exactly flying under the radar.

Charl Schwartzel - two time winner this year and nearly beat Ernie at Doral.I'd have him as a dark horse to win let alone make the cut.

Miguel Angel Jiminez - 46 now but has won twice in Europe this year already, in strong fields.

Soren Kjeldson - Playing solidly this year and had a good run early at the U.S.Open.

Shane Lowry - Won the Irish open last year in monsoon - like conditions and did well last week at the Scottish open in poor conditions again.Missed only 3 or 4 cuts this year I think.

E. Molinari - he is just playing really well and seems to get along with though conditions. And dont forget Greame McDowell who pretty much smoked the field at the Celtic Manor Wales Open before his US Open victory...

Yep - you can pretty much forget about players not used to playing in though conditions (aka the sunshine boys of the PGA Tour....) - they have an outside chance, but thats it.

He's been improving the last couple of weeks but whether he has improved enough remains to be seen.

Agreed. Actually, if the wind isn't too high he could probably drive all but the par 5s. His problem will be stopping the ball before it runs through.

Disagree, to an extent. His last two tournaments haven't been that great but he has had three top 20s - interestingly, two top tens (Majorca Open and Portuguese Open) on windy courses. His 6th place at the BMW PGA (and third at the Open last year) indicates that he has big-event temperament.

Pretty much always, at the Open - but the forecast this week if for the weather to ease off a bit, after another downpour on Wednesday. Forecast for Friday, Saturday and Sunday is sunny, with breeze no more than mid-teens mph. Could be a low scoring championship...

My 'under-the-radar' choices: Shane Lowry - could be a good each-way bet. Rory McIlroy - McDowell has one, he WANTS ONE!!!! (OK, not REALLY under the radar...) Martin Kaymer - in a good run of form. Thongchai Jaydee - you never know. Currently 22 on R2D. Has performed well in difficult weather conditions. Bradley Dredge - has endured a wretched run but seems to be coming back into form at just the right time. Lost a playoff for the Irish Open to...Padhraig Harrington, in 2007. The year Paddy went on to win the Open for the first time. Gregory Bordet/Gregory Havret - it is high time a Frenchman did well again. Higher profile: Paul Casey - depends on not letting setbacks upset him Ian Poulter - his meticulous approach may help him get closer than he did in '08. Angel Cabrera - has been very under the radar but his demeanour over the past couple of outings makes me think...maybe he is up for it. Confidence in his stride, smiling in that certain way. Charl Schwartzl - although I think he's too skinny to win the Open. Like Charles Howell III. I'm reminded of Julius Caesar 'Give me men around me who are fat. Yon Cassius has a lean and hungry look'. and look what happened to him! Ernie Els Colin Montgomerie - fantastic round to qualify, Raises his game in Scotland. And something completely off the wall... John Daly. Will his return to the scene of his greatest triumph see him return to form? Tiger? His putting will have to be a whole lot better. And his accuracy off the tee.

Not really - missed the cut last week, had an awful finish at the French Open, didnt play well in Germany - he is FAR from a good form. Thats coming from a guy who actually would love to see him win again...

Fisher will make the cut imo, he's not had a great year so far but had a pretty decent week last week so i actually think he'll be in contention.
Quiros will either miss the cut or be near the top of the leaderboard depending on how he putts.
Francesco Molinari will be there or there abouts this week but im not so sure about Edoardo, Francesco is the more consistant player imo
Darren Clarke is in very good form at the minute with the JP McManus win and a runner up finish last week.
Fredrik Andersson Hed may have a good week imo, he's done pretty well this year.
Stephen Gallacher's been towards the top of the leaderboard in quite a few tournaments this year.
Simon Khan, won the BMW PGA, im thinking he'll have a decent week.
My main European pick for this week is Rhys Davies, he's won this year and has been in contention a number of times, plus the guy is an insanely good putter, probably the best on the European Tour which will help him greatly this week, im thinking he's there or thereabouts on Sunday

Great Info fellas.....thanks very much for the input....In my pool, I am taking Davies, Rory McIlroy, Shane Lowry and John Daly.....I do think Daly is suited to make the cut at St. Andrews....bomber with very soft hands.....my big concern is Lowry, but rolling the dice.

Not one mention of Rose??? He is on a tear and I look for him to be the one to beat. MHO

Bet you're glad you went with those picks.Only let down is Davies, but he's good enough to recover and make the cut at least.

Spuds, I am looking GREAT if Davies can rebound with a good round tomorrow (tough conditions today...may be the same in teh morning tomorrow, so keeping my fingers crossed).....got to say thanks again to those who chimed in.....winning this pool is good for about 10 rounds worth of greens fees.
