I've been searching around, but haven't come across anything yet.

I'm going to regrip my irons, they are .600, but I don't know about the rest. Anyone know where to find it, or is it possible to measure? Preferably without removing the old grip.

wouldn't it be at the end of the club?

My tour velvets show it.

The club isn't the issue as much as the shaft. Figure out what shafts are in each club and then look them up on the company's website. You can also go to golfworks.com, they sell just about every shaft out there and usually list the specs for each.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

Didn't think to look there. Are the stock grips telling about the shaft diameter?

Wedges: .580 grip. Haven't found the shaft diameter. True Temper Dynamic Gold
5 wood: .580 grip. Haven't found the shaft diameter. Aldila VS Proto Fairway 80-S . I think it is .625
3 wood: Exsar FS4 .606 shaft
Hybrid: Exsar HS4 . .624 shaft
Driver: .600 grip. Haven't found the shaft diameter. Graphite Design Tour AD YS, 62 grams .

I'd like to have somewhat the same feeling on all clubs, is that a problem with some .580 and some .600? I've never changed grips before, so they are all stock.
I do like the feeling on my irons (Project X .600 shafts) better than the wedges (.580 shafts). I've ordered 13 .600 grips. Will they all feel somewhat the same if I put a layer of tape on the .580 shafts? I'm getting the Pure grips that don't need double sided tape, so I'll remove any old tape. To get the same feel, I guess I need a layer of tape on the irons, and perhaps two layers on the wedges and other .580 shafts.

Guess I'll have to experiment when I get them.

I'll check the shafts.

I could be wrong, but I will make the following statement based on what I have read and experienced:

The butt diameter of the shaft and the size of the grip won't matter too much if you want it to be a standard grip. If a grip is .580 or .600, if it is a standard grip, the installed size will be standard, regardless of the butt size being .580 or .600. The butt size won't drastically increase or decrease the size of the grip.

I change grips every year and only get the standard size. I know a few clubs have a different butt size, but when they get on the clubs I can't tell the difference. There might be a difference of .02, or .03, or something, but I sure can't tell. I have one club that has a .625 butt and it feels a little different, but the size feels the same.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

Yeah, I suppose there won't be too big a difference, if so, I can use some tape here and there. All I know is that the grips on my irons are larger and fits me better than the rest of my clubs. Perhaps the grips are just larger, I think I've read somewhere that Mizuno made them slightly larger.

I've also been reading that if you install .580 grips on .600 shafts, you get a thicker feel, while .600 on .600 while feel thinner. If that is the case, I'd need .580 afterall to get a slightly thicker feel. I'll see how it works out when I get the grips, can always put on some tape if needed. Thanks for the help.

You can purchase a measuring tool from Golfworks.com called "Universal Grip Gauge"

This gauge will measure shaft butt size and grip size on both men’s and ladies’ clubs, including undersized, standard and oversized. Easily measures right- and left-hand grip size. Made of heavy aluminum with markings etched on a Black background. Full instructions included http://www.golfworks.com/product.asp_Q_pn_E_MAGG_A_cn_E_1894

Save the work of trying to find this information from the internet.  Lots of clubs not made anymore are hard to find specs for.

Good luck and I hope this helps.

The butt size won't drastically increase or decrease the size of the grip. A .580 grip on a .600 butt shaft is 1/64 oversized equal to a midsize grip . In this case, you should have the .580 grip stretched upon installation by 1/2 inch.   A .580 on a .620 butt shaft is 1/32 oversized equal to a jumbo style grip.

    • Hit my tee shot just into the penalty area and barely found it. Swung hard just in case I hit it. It was slightly downhill with a heavy tailwind. I don't actually hit my 9i 170 yards.
    • Right. The difference between being 120 out and 70 out for me (this is the important part) is negligible and not worth putting other risks into play off the tee.   Ok the argument against driver is that my shot cone is comically large. It puts every possible outcome into play. You can't see the green from the tee so there's a good chance I'd have to wait for it to clear which would slow down play. That's the third tee right in the middle of the firing range there. I really don't want to wait just to hit a terrible shot and I especially don't want to injure somebody. Yea I have no problem playing out of the rough short of the bunker if I'm just going to lay up short of the bunker, but I absolutely need to avoid flaring it right into the penalty area if I'm going to be laying up in the first place. As a general strategy I understand where you're coming from. But since we're specifically talking about me (this is a shot I'm going to have to hit on Saturday), I think the cost is fairly marginal. I hit the ball 8' closer on average from 50-100 than I do from 100-150 from the fairway and rough and the green success % difference is 4%. Bunker might as well be a penalty drop. Based on the data,  Here's my SG:A data compared to a 10: I honestly don't know how to use SG for decision making. That's why I was mostly looking at proximity to hole and green success rate for comparison. I mostly use SG as a way to track my progress. All good. Like I said, I appreciate the discussion. It makes me think. If I didn't want to see alternative/opposing viewpoints to my own I just wouldn't post anything. You should post it! In your own swing thread, of course. It's been a fun exercise.
    • Played my first 2024 round at Pierce Lake. Boomed my first drive down #10 fairway, then slowly slipped into mediocrity. 83 (69.6/131). The high point was going 2 of 4 on sand saves. My sand game is pretty marginal but today I must have discovered the secret for a couple hours.
