There are four full-field events left in the PGA Tour season. And look where these guys are:

[pre]Pos Name Events Earnings
169 David Duval 22 $311,145
190 John Daly 18 $185,444[/pre]

Both made the cut this weekend, but ouch! 190?! 169?? And who'd have thought Duval would be beating John Daly?

Wow. I thought Duval was playing a bit better than that. Hope he makes it. Daly just doesn't seem to care anymore, which is too bad with all the talent he possesses.

Duval showed promise earlier in the season but they dropped off the map again. I kind of saw that one coming, or rather I'm not surprised by it.

Daly's drop coincided with his wife entering prison. I think that took its toll on him. I wonder if he's returned to the bottle in full force.

Too bad for both these guys.

I was hoping to see David Duval really pick it up this year, after he showed some promise at the start of the season. It's tragic how you can be at the top of the golf world and then a short time later scatching your head because nothing seems to work anymore.

I am not sure it was trafficking or just intent to sell, but it definitely was drug related.

Guys, read the article. It talks about the one-time exemption(s) Duval has available to him (but not Daly).

JUst been looking at this - I find it amazing that JD has played 18 events and only made $185,000!!! Must have missed lots of cuts.

He's not the worst my far though, some guys have played over 20 events and barely made $100,000 - Steven Bowditch has played 19 events, yes 19, and made...wait for it.....$5,640..!!!! ouch

Anyway, I hope JD makes it, somehow it isn't the same without him - although he'll still get to play 15 events or so.

I figured Duval had the one-time exemption to keep him going next year, but that will be the last straw for sure. He has gotten himself into decent position going into the weekend, but he hasn't done much with it after that. He was only a few off the lead this past weekend before dumping one into the water at the 17th on Saturday. He ended up finishing in the 40-50 range I believe.

I'm not a John Daly fan at all, so it really doesn't matter to me if he keeps his card or not. Maybe it will give him a wake-up call or something. He has wasted too much talent for my liking.

Neither guy will make it into the top-125 this year, but hopefully that one-year exemption is all Duval needs to get his game completely back. It's almost there, but it's not close enough obviously.

daly's wife is in jail?? what for? does anyone know?

I believe it was money laundering (

for drug traffickers). She was implicated along with her parents. I'll miss (at least a little) the sideshow that Daly has put on, but I'm not surprised. He's had a bushel of second chances and pissed them all away. Duval, on the other hand, I'm really rooting for. I used to hate Duval, but since I've learned more about him through articles on his struggles I now find myself rooting for him. If he improves at about the same rate from 2006-2007 that he did from 2005-2006, he should be in good form next year.

I like Daly just because he is a down to earth golfer like the rest of us out here off tour. He is not afraid to tell it like it is like the way you seen it on the show that he had. I think it is pretty sad that he just got a new sponsor sometime this year and now he is under the gun not to get his card back again.

If I remember the newspaper accounts, it was more about a money-laundering scheme that had some drug undertones. I don't think she was dealing, but she was facilitating them by cleaning the money.

Daly was just here at my club a couple of weeks ago for his annual charity outing. The old Arkansas Razorback players play the latest crop and there is a concert, etc. I am so dumb I don't even remember the charity it supports, but I think it is something local. When Daly was in college, my home course was also the home course for the Razorbacks. They have since moved to The Blessings, a new really upscale course here, but Daly still wants to come back to where he played in college.

I was playing behind them when he was having his practice round. There were about a dozen or so carts full of spectators with them. For some reason, I did not attract a gallery. (Go Figure???) There are a couple of holes where Daly hits the ball over the hazards we play to lay-up behind. One of them is a 280yd carry over a creek crossing a very narrow fairway. Daly, of course, plays it with a driver and lob wedge by driving it over the creek. I play it with a driver and 8 or 9 iron from behind the creek.
