I've seen worse. Not many, but a few.

His site isn't very great either. I can't make it past the first page.

His

Ha. He looks like Bob Vokey's far stupider cousin.

Tell Sergio or Colin Montgomerie not to slide their hips back in the backswing. Good luck.

"The expert golfer has maximum time to make minimal compensations. The poorer player has minimal time to make maximum compensations." - And no, I'm not Mac. Please do not PM me about it. I just think he is a crazy MFer and we could all use a little more crazy sometimes.

Yeah, I don't claim to be all knowing when it comes to the swing, but good Lord, this guy is clueless. Must be of the mindset that the worst his students play, the more money he makes on repeat visits.

Backswing or downswing?

What a moron. I'd like to see him play on the course. Wonder why he doesn't actually hit a ball in the video...

Backswing or downswing?

Phil was talking about their backswings. He and I've had this conversation in PMs before.

Or, if you want to be extreme about it, Jason Zuback. That guy's hips move like crazy. Which makes sense - if you want the most power you go from extension to flexion and back to extension. Every pro goes forward on the downswing (some more than others). A few also slide their hips back a bit on the backswing - Sergio and Monty being chief among the examples I prefer to use too.

As soon as I read the title of the video "No Slide on the Downswing", I knew it would push the hot button of every S&T;'er. Then, when he said to put your weight over the BACK FOOT on the backswing, it was all over. The videos are on e-How, for God's sake. Their target audience is not the avid golfer, it is for beginners. Like the Golf for Dummies books.

I don't think it qualifies as the worst video ever. Not the best, certainly, but not the worst. Certainly not worthy of being called a moron or Bob Vokey's stupid cousin. Hey, McGlenno, post your real photo on here, so we can make childish comments about what you look like, too.

is he really a pro?

seems hard to become a pro if you don't move at all during the swing.

Well, technically all you have to do to be a pro is declare yourself to be one, so...

As soon as I read the title of the video "No Slide on the Downswing", I knew it would push the hot button of every S&T;'er.

You have to realize that S&T; came about from a study of the differences between the most expert golfers and the average golfers. The best golfers get their weight well forward coming into impact, the worst do not. How? By pushing their hips forward (they certainly don't do it by leaning their heads forward!). S&T; is nothing more than a classification of the most common components found in the best golfers and what those things do or change within a swing to affect the ball flight.

In other words, the best players push their hips forward, whether they're "S&T;" or not.

Phil knows he's not a looker. Especially in his tight white shorts. And if you're not sure what I'm talking about, well... sorry.

I am a S&Ter; but i knew sliding the hips before i switched by studying Hogan. I found S&T; made it easier for me to slide and that's why I switch (ooh and the whole hitting 80% of my shots fat).

Just another guy who thinks their way is the right way. I could both turn and bump the hip. personally I like bumping,or sliding bettter. Some may like turning better.

What the guy does not realize is that with right bumping action of the hip, it can also produce an pretty ideal turning motion of the shoulder and set you arms and hands in good position to hit the ball. The club does not care if you turn or slide.

Understood. I agree with all that. What gets me (and this has been discussed before) is the insulting comments that immediately get posted regarding someone's mental capacity or physical appearance. It just doesn't add anything, the posters just comes off as immature.

Aren't there videos out there by Tom Watson and Sean O' Hair advocating the same thing? Not that I agree, because you do need to slide the hips, just wanted to point out there are pros who say the same thing.

Yeah that is just stupid. How are you going to hit down on the ball swinging like that? The motion foward is what creates what I call the dynamic hitting position (I just made that up). I thought the position he was saying not to be in reminded me of alot of good players at impact where there head is back hips driving foward and jumping at the same time hitting the snot out of the ball.

Could be wrong, but I don't think I've seen anything from either of them advocating this same thing.

    • I always get adds for "Find your Eastern European Soulmate" I think it's a nifty gadget to have at home. If your going to do a dedicated putting session I could see setting it up. Thanks for sharing.
    • Here's the bet. Assuming the pursuit of a Tour card holds, who wins their first Tour event? Charlie, or this Russell kid? Bet is off if Miles Russell signs with LIV.
    • It seems like too much work for me. I'm actually surprised at myself for spending as much time on this as I already have. Shot Scope tells me my shots to finish with a 7i is 0.1 better than with my 50 or 55 so I'm just going to go with it. Actually, I tend to be the complete opposite. I've never faced a shot I'm convinced I can't hit. It leads to great heroics and complete flops. Conservative for me might just be someone else's normal.
    • Tell me you've not seen Bill play without telling me you've not seen Bill play? 😄 Just teasing @billchao. 😄
    • And like Matt said, and I have hinted at… it's ONE ROUND. Because you have to get hot. Better players than him failed to get through. And… Peaked too soon, perhaps. He could also get injured, get surpassed, lose interest or lose his game… Again, if I trusted y'all to uphold the bet, and if the bet wasn't basically a 15-year proposition… I'd bet y'all. The odds are against him, and heavily so. So… he didn't qualify, and he's playing on a sponsor's exemption. Jordan Spieth was 16 years old when he tied for 16th in a PGA Tour event… and I realize that mentioning Jordan Spieth (who has obviously had a lot of success) seems to argue against my point, but Spieth is the exception and he did better at only a year older than this fella. The odds are strongly against him.
