Just came across this twosomes (father/son)at a local park district course, each playing with two balls. The course was little backed up due to an outing, but these idiots were making it worse for us. I intentionally drove the ball over them to give them a warning. When I approached them at the next tee. This teenage son was arguing me about not yelling "fore" instead of them playing two balls. The father would not say a word and they kept on playing with two balls for the rest of the two holes.

I don't understand what this father is teaching his teenage boy.

You say the course was backed up. Were they holding up play, or were they playing two balls rather than just play one and wait at length for the group ahead of them. If they were a twosome behind a slow foursome, what difference does it make?

And just how does hitting at them solve the problem?

If the holdup was being caused by an outing and not that twoball, how could they have made it worse? If you weren't waiting behind them you'd be waiting behind the other groups anyway.Even so, any problem you had with them should have been reported to and dealt with by a member or member of staff at the course.Hitting into a group ahead is unacceptable no matter what they were up to. This story , about a young man accidentaly killed at a driving range over here last week is a reminder that Golf can be dangerous if you don't take care.

They were definately holding up play, each teeing off with 2-3 balls, searching and playing all balls (all over the course) all the way to the green.

Driving ball over them was to give them a warning to move on. I know it was not the proper manner.

People like you are far worse to deal with. You are on a golf forum for Gods sake...YOU SHOULD KNOW BETTER THAN TO HIT INTO SOMEONE!!! How about informing a ranger...talking to them about it...calling the clubhouse...anything other than hitting into someone.

The situation was not as dangerous as one would think as if I was hitting at them.
I admit that it was not the right way to handle the situation.

How can it not be dangerous to intentionally hit a ball in the direction of someone else? Theres no way for you to know that it might come off your club low or they may move while your ball is in the air or you may mis-hit it in any number of ways.

Going over a group is just the same as hitting at them...you're putting someone else at risk for no reason.

I encountered the exact same thing this past week. The course was pretty crowded and the twosome in front of me were each playing two balls. It wouldn't have bothered me so much if they weren't extremely slow and awful at golf. I yelled at them a couple times when I was on the tee box and they were in the fairway "The course is crowded one ball please!". Did they listen? Of course not.

Ok. I'm the villian here.
Again, my intention was not to harm them in anyway.
We would have warn them if the ball really got any close to them or went out of control.

My cap is 8 strokes lower than yours and i freely admit that i usually have no idea where my drives are going...very un-cool. After working at a private c.c and a muni...i have seen what happens when a person takes a golf ball to the mind...not pretty and deadly even. Ive also seen what happens when a smart @$$ gets an opportunity for dental work because the person being hit into didnt have the same sense of humor over the situation. You really need to handle this better next time. Be a good example...there are enough jerks playing this game as it is. A good story for you. I was working at a muni as a ranger. A high schooler hits into a group of 4 seniors in carts. They shake it off. Happens again next tee box. One of the old timers goes back to voice his displeasure when mr. tough guy high school starts getting lippy. The old guy took his bag and threw it into the pond. Lesson learned. I laughed my butt off. You should have seen the kids face when i told him i wasnt going in to get his bag. Didnt boot the old guys either.

Fortunatley, my handicap is all about the short game and putting.

As you may noticed that I'm little impatient.
so call the clubhouse and tell them whats happening.

We should have, but this course even allows to play even sixsomes!

I won't be playing at this course anymore to avoid these kind of people.

smart move to avoid courses that frustrate you with their practices.

Its just always good advice to allow the course to handle your frustrations..always better for your round. All I'm getting at. I would rather someone be mad at me for calling a ranger than someone be physically injured.

Honestly what you did has no excuse. Also, if they were backed up by someone in front of them then them playing one ball would make no difference. I play by myself every time so I know how it feels to wait and how it affects my game, but if the course was back up you all are going no where fast.

I don't not think they have no etiquette, but where also frustrated, as were you.

Please let us know which courses you will be playing so we can avoid going to those courses. I would rather play behind someone slow than have someone launching drives at me, but thats just me.

+1 I cannot see how anyone can possibly think that such action is in any way justifiable.

To the OP: If you are that lacking in patience, then maybe you need to consider another game.... What they did was wrong, but what you did was just short of criminal...
