I've been back playing golf for about 2 months now. Yesterday i played at my dads par 69 course and played a round of 87 gross - breaking 100 and 90 for the first time!!!

I'm really happy with this - my previous rounds were 104 and 101 so i had been improving slowly but yesterday i had a change in mindset. I told myself in my head that shooting for bogey on every hole was the way to go - i ignore GIR etc and focussed on keeping myself out of trouble.

I've been having a lot of problems keeping my driver straight so i mainly used my 5 iron and 3 hybrid off the tee and just played a 70% swing all day. My short game was much improved an i only had one 3 putt all round.

I've now posted 3 cards for an official handicap which will come out as 26.3 - i'm hoping i can now play consistently around the 90-95 mark as i'm the first to admit that my 87 was very lucky!

Just thought i'd share with you guys as i was so happy :)

Good job man! Just think, "5's or less on every hole" and you'll get in the 80's consistently before you know it. Golf is all about saving scores (for us mortals that can't do FIR/GIR on every hole).

Even par through 9 is my best.  I don't even want to think about what was my worst.

That was how I broke 90, problem is I still think that way and I am trying to shoot in the 70s.

To the OP - great work. Enjoy it

    • Day 35, June 8. Before leaving for work this morning (yes, I'm posting this quite late relative to the practice), I spent 15 minutes practicing at home, into a net.  This time, it was primarily 9-iron (full swings), with some UW (full and half) and a few 6-iron.
    • Day 73: just some mirror work today. Working on feels for being open and getting the front shoulder down.
    • I'm liking this. Finally getting down hands in front of my trail leg pocket consistently at A6 with much better clubhead position (relatively not as tipped out). I can really pressure the shaft through impact with good face control  from this position and stay in balance. Won my first one v one march 5&4 against a 4 hcp who routinely drives it 35-40 yards past me in the men's club match play . Frustrated him with some solid iron play and air tight putting.
    • Day 279 6-8  Worked on low point control skills work tonight. will be doing this for a few weeks. Tonight was just trying figure out how to get low point forward.  No ball.
    • Day 8 (Jun 8 26) - Stayed the drill but added two additional irons (7i, 8i and 9i) - using Divot Board and hard foam balls - focused on tempo and purposed pause at the top….noticing how open the club is marking the board when I try to kill it and how much more square (and better distance) when I focus on these keys.
