Would you ever use them. I'm on vacation and only brought a wedge. there is a nice little 9 hole course here and I was thinking of renting a set.

Why wouldn't you? If you want to play, do it.

I don't know what kind of place it is, but I had a buddy that used the rental set at our local course a few years back and it was a very nice set of Cobras. They only charged like $5 on top of the regular price to let him use them. I say go for it.

A friend of mine owns maui jim golf rentals in Hawaii. He currently rents out well over 200 sets per month. It is hard to travel with clubs. You get them delivered to your hotel and they pick them up for you too. You can get any set of clubs for a very reasonable price, plus they sell LeviTee Golf Gloves too. If traveling, I would highly recommend it.

I would tend to agree - I have rented clubs before when on vacation but where golf was just an extra activity.  If I am going specifically for a golf vacation I nearly always bring my own set.  For me it is a bit like sleeping in your own bed! I am comfortable with my own clubs but as soon as I use someone else's I think the mental side lets me down as I know I am using clubs which I am not familiar with

I think it depends on where you are renting from.  Most clubs have rentals but I find that these are older clubs and not always satisfactory.  If you are just there for a quick round or whatever then fine but otherwise I would always bring my own clubs.  Then there are the other rental options - the sites that you can rent pretty decent clubs from and that are shipped via fedex to your hotel or wherever.  I have never tried one of those services but interested to know what experience others have had.  I have heard that these guys are pretty good...

    • Day 35, June 8. Before leaving for work this morning (yes, I'm posting this quite late relative to the practice), I spent 15 minutes practicing at home, into a net.  This time, it was primarily 9-iron (full swings), with some UW (full and half) and a few 6-iron.
    • Day 73: just some mirror work today. Working on feels for being open and getting the front shoulder down.
    • I'm liking this. Finally getting down hands in front of my trail leg pocket consistently at A6 with much better clubhead position (relatively not as tipped out). I can really pressure the shaft through impact with good face control  from this position and stay in balance. Won my first one v one march 5&4 against a 4 hcp who routinely drives it 35-40 yards past me in the men's club match play . Frustrated him with some solid iron play and air tight putting.
    • Day 279 6-8  Worked on low point control skills work tonight. will be doing this for a few weeks. Tonight was just trying figure out how to get low point forward.  No ball.
    • Day 8 (Jun 8 26) - Stayed the drill but added two additional irons (7i, 8i and 9i) - using Divot Board and hard foam balls - focused on tempo and purposed pause at the top….noticing how open the club is marking the board when I try to kill it and how much more square (and better distance) when I focus on these keys.
