Anyone have a solution for sweaty grips being slippery in the summer? I've tried cleaning with detergent/warm water and scrubbing them real good with a pad. Clubs were purchased new in September. I sweat alot and about an hour on the range in the Texas sun and a glove is like a wet washrag. Called it quits today when I made a swing with the 5 iron and it fell completely out of my hands.

Some have mentioned pine tar bat the seems like it would be a bit messy, just looking for other ideas.

I sweat a lot. What I've found that works best is wrist sweatbands to soak up the sweat. I went from wearing a glove and changing it every 3 holes to no glove and sweatbands. I just wipe my hands before I grab the club and wipe the club after use. I use Tour Velvet mid-size grips and its worked great the last few rounds. it has been 90s and very humid here in Mass. i thought I would have trouble with calluses or blisters, but no. Give it a try before spending money on sticky stuff.

I am a mess when it's hot out, I've tried every grip out there and eventually they all get slick. Best, for me, is the Golf Pride dual compound new decade, but it has it's limits.

Probably not what you're looking for as far as a magic grip, but I find that carrying around a big towel and really rubbing down the grip before I swing is the only way. That, and throw on a fresh glove at the turn...take them off while I'm walking to the next shot as well.

ya I tried towling them and my hand off works for about 1 swing which gets a bit repetitive on the range. I think I'll grab some wristbands today.

I use Lamkin crosslines. Before, I used Winn grips which were AMAZING in sweaty/rainy conditions but were as durable as Greg Oden.

What I do, and this is going to be graphic, is I get my non-gloved hand and my glove hand as dry as possible through conventional methods...then, with my glove hand and then with my bare hand...I furiously rub the grip up and down. Yes, it looks like I'm waxing my dolphin, but what I'm doing is getting the glove hot, dry and tacky again. It works good with my grips. It also has an added benefit of disturbing my playing partners on occasion. This helps when you're wagering.

+1 on the new decade's. I tend to sweat a lot when it's hot out, and this grip has worked great for me. It's been 100+ degrees a lot this summer, and I couldn't be happier.

LMAO!!!!

I refuse to wear a glove so a good grip is essential to me. The new decade multicompound fit the bill.

Another recommendation for the New Decade Multicompounds. I've played in 100+F many times this summer and have yet to have an issue with sweaty grips - it's been my golf glove that's given me more fits but I think I sorted that out this week.

I also use the multi-compounds. There was a new grip advertised in this month's Golf Digest that looked like they could be really tacky. I can't remember what they were but I bet they would really stick to a glove.

I bought a bowler's rosin bag a few weeks ago and that seems to help a bit too. It's pretty small about 2" x 3" and comes in a little ziplock plastic pouch to contain when not in use. Nowhere near as large as a baseball pitcher's bag.

I also have a pack (that I haven't used yet) of wipes called Gorilla grip or something. I keep forgetting them at home. They are supposed to make the grips tacky

Yup - Hornungs Gorilla Gold Grip Enhancer is good. The product summary, courtesy of TGW:

"The cure for slipping grip even in wet, cold, hot, humid or sweaty conditions. Use on hands gloves and grips. Non-toxic or staining. Comes in a re-sealable bag allowing the cloth to last 3 to 6 weeks. Conforms with the USGA under the Rules of Golf"

Golf Pride NDMCs along with a rotation of 3 or 4 gloves. I pull the gloves off after every shot, and hang them on the bar along the windshield of the cart, so that they get a lot of airflow. The other big difference maker is a small travel sized bottle of baby powder. I'll put it on my hands prior to starting to warm up, and regularly throughout the round. It works the same as a rosin bag, but not as messy IMO

My hands sweat like crazy as well so I can relate. However I'm not so sure the issue is with your grips. Sweat and grime can turn grips into slip-n-slides after only a few shots. Worn grips will obviously perpetuate the issue. It sounds to me like you need to carry a wet and dry towel. Wipe your grips and hands off before each shot.

i use the gorilla grip and a microfiber towel. Honestly if you get a good MF towel it makes a world of difference. They absorb so much more moisture than a reg towel. Another option if you dont liek the feel of MF is to go to an auto parts store and get a chamois or a Cham-Wow. Theyre softer and soak up moisture well. just use them before each hole. No pun intended.

    • You all are right, its not that big of an issue, I'll leave it alone, especially after looking at that picture of Tigers beat up putter. But I also noticed the small circle worn on the sweet-spot where he hits it every time, I definitely don't have one of those. Thanks for the replies
    • Committing to one brand of ball this year - Snell MTB Prime X, the 5 doz. pack. Like how they perform for me. At $18/doz., can live with cover scuffing. Iron regripping with GolfPrice MCC+4 Teams std. in red/navy. May be retiring Odyssey Dual Force after 30 yrs. Seems like I can't get it to the hole anymore. Kind of light and has lots of toe hang. My reg. group's hounding finally wore me down.    From Callaway preowned - trying out the Odyssey Tri-Hot 5K in double wide (less toe hang) and triple wide (face balanced). Both also noticeably heavier...we shall see.
    • WOW, it looks like he has been hitting stones with that putter to put all of those nicks into it.  I can't see how a ball would cause many those dings.
