Really thinking about adding one of these to my bag. Although I don't know if it's really necessary given what I currently carry, which is in my sig but here it is anyway:

Driver
3 and 5 wood
5-AW irons
56 and 60 wedges
putter

So I have 13 clubs and can't really find another club to fill in spot number 14. I don't hit my 4 iron well at all so I never carry it. 5 is the longest iron I can usually strike pretty well. There are some courses in my area where even on a long par 4 I'm just not accurate enough with a driver and find myself taking 3 or 5 wood to ensure putting it in play, even if that means leaving myself a shot a bit outside of my 5 iron range. Would a 3 or 4 hybrid benefit me in this situation? What's the differences with a 3 or 4 hybrid vs a 5 wood? I'm not really sure if there's a significant average distance difference or if most players using these hybrids are not carrying 5 woods. But I really like this little rescue club right here, http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/pr...074790.4074793

The price is certainly right, I'm just wondering if it will help my game. I also play a lot of short courses where using it off the tee could be useful. The longer courses I play... well I run into par 3's that are beyond my 5 iron range but still to short for my 5 wood. Any input guys? Thanks in advance.

Go to a local golf store with a demo station, try hitting both the 3 and 4 hybrids, and make your decision based on which one best fills the gap in your bag.

If you are only going with 1 get the 3hybrid. It will be more versatile since you can choke up for a shot of less distance. If I was you , I would drop the 60* wedge and add a 3 and 4 hybrid.

Well I don't carry a 3 or 4 iron, so that gives me to space to add this hybrid and not have to take out anything. So I can leave all my wedges.

4 hybrid. I'm guessing your 5W is 18* and 5i is 24*? My Adams A7 3 hybrid is 19* so 4 hybrid 22*would fill the gap between 5W & 5i.

Agree, if only one, add the 4h as the 3h and 5w would be too close... If you decide you really like the hybrid you could always add the 3h later and dump the 5w.
