Hi all
I am still newbie and getting into the game slowly, best score so far is a 94

As in the subject i won a set of TM 09 Burners irons plus the 09 Burner driver in a lucky draw

Would you guys suggest i play with them.
or
Take them to the pro shop and trade them in on a pair that they fit for me.

Thanks in advance
Andre

Hi Andre, welcome to the site,.what clubs do you play with? And how far off are they from the Burners? If you have better clubs it is a simple choice. but if the Burners are better and can be easily adjusted to your specs why not keep them?

It ain't bragging if you can do it.

Hi Thanks for the speedy response
I have a set of Fearless clubs and a old Nike driver
The Tm`s are WAY better than my current clubs

So should i just play with the TM as they are now, standard out the box and see how it goes.

Absolutely. Play with them just as they are. Odds are, you won't have a problem with them. I've played standard clubs all my life and never felt like they didn't fit correctly.

You have the right idea about going to the Pro shop for a fitting and trading for what fits you best. You're just starting and that will move you in the right direction.

It ain't bragging if you can do it.

If you can find out from where they were purchased, you could contact them to see if you could get properly fitted to either them or a similarly priced set. Standard length and lie fits a fair number of players, but you could have them checked to be sure (if you are so inclined). Have fun.

I have that exact same set of irons. The standard off the rack length and lie was all I needed for my swing, no adjustments required but you can have that checked easily enough. I really like the clubs. Enjoy them and congrats!

I would not trade in brand new clubs, sell on ebay for 3x the price.

i would keep them if I were you. Those burners will work for a wide range of players and are a good iron for a person with a handicap of 22. Besides you will be playing with a set that you won! that means they are lucky

I'd keep them... those are pretty good clubs. Go and see what you would get fitted for... who knows you may get lucky and just need standard l/l/l. If not you may be able to get them adjusted to fit you properly. If you decide you don't want them, you'd be better off selling them and using the money for new ones than trading them in.

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

Hi everyone
Thank you for all the advice
Played 9 holes at Bosch hoek (South Africa) on Saturday and shot a 48
Not too bad for the first time out with brand new clubs and zero practice with new clubs, for my skill anyway, iron play was very good, just need to hit those fairways of the tee with my new driver and i will improve a lot.
