I've sent two back for initials, grips, etc. That was a pretty quick turnaround but I also paid for next day air (there and back) If you check the

Scotty Custom Shop website you can see the current turn around time, price one out, etc.... I just check the website and the current turnaround time is 10 days for Custom Shop and 40 days for Restoration (not including shipping). You can also read a review that The Sand Trap did here

Everardo reflects my own experience. I've twice had the the Scotty Custom Shop work on putters. The last was a Circa 62 No. 3 that I had redone in a pro platinum finish with initials, new shaft and some tweaking to the loft and lie. As I remember the time estimated was something like 40 days but I know it came back in less time than that.

I've sent a few in as well..you get a brand new putter back..I always wondered if there's some sort of conspiracy over there..I honestly cannot tell it was the same putter that went in.

How does the pro platinum finish effect the feel compared to before having it?

To be perfectly honest... to me, there was no differencer at all. Perhaps someone with more sensitive hands than mine might perceive a slightly harder feel. But, really, I don't feel any difference. I thought I might. I actually have a backup in the original finish. When I close my eyes and trade off between the two, I still can't feel a difference. But that's just me.

You can calculate the cost for customization or restoration at the Scotty Cameron site here:

http://www.scottycameron.com/customization/default.asp Going for the Pro Platinum finish requires selecting "restoration" which starts at $110. The finish is another $30. I had initials put on ($30) and opted for a premium headcover ($47). So, all told, it was $217. Because I wanted a slightly longer shaft, and to save shipping to Cameron, I removed the shaft before I sent the head in. The new shaft was covered in the restoration cost as was the "standard" grip I chose.

You can do that?!?!? I'm bidding on an old beat up Cameron that's just like mine on ebay, but its 35" and mine is 34" so if I get it, I'd like to get the shorter shaft put in. Hmm, maybe I should just take the shaft out before I send it back?

If you're having the head "restored," then why not? The new shaft is included in the price. If you're just having the club "customized" then you'd want to send the whole thing in to avoid the reshafting charge because all they need do is cut down the original shaft.

But be aware that they're fussy about the relationship of head weight to shaft length. Thus they'll only adjust shaft lengths in 1/2" increments.
