Well perhaps not tough but after about 6 months of golf I finally stopped swinging with my arms: ) I just could never not use my arms - couldnt believe anyone really used no arms. Now I can actually hit the the ball without it EVERYTIME being a fat thin shot. Its so much simpler and easier on your body just turning back and then through. I'm just pretty stoked. I think I made a breakthrough and I was in a a super frusterated way for about a month I think this is the end of it. Just thought i'd share.

Good luck with keeping that feeling...

I am an 8 handicap and that is my challenge forever in golf...I sparingly find times when I can get my arms out of the swing and use my lower body correctly and that usually results in breaking 80. I work hard on my short game and that is what keeps my handicap in tact but to go lower my ball striking is going to have to become more consistent and that is my challenge...to use my lower body in the correct sequence! Again good luck keeping that feeling!

I read a book, "The Keys to the Effortless Golf Swing" by Michael McTeigue; in it the concept of the "lighthouse" swing helped my game emensly this summer. Basically, stand in your golf stance, however erect, eyes and chest pointed straight out. Raise your arms to chest level and touch palms (out in front of your body) Now swing your hips right, then left - keeping a solid (and quiet) base. "That" is the golf swing. Shoulders and chest rotating right, hands (and grip) still attached to the line pointing directly at the center of your chest. If you use your arms at any time in this rotation right, then left - you are off plane.

There's more to it (and lots of practice) but in essence the golf "swing" is not a swing at all, it's a golf "rotation."

Make sense the way I described it? Read the book, I guess. It helped me.
I make all my own clubs:
