He wasn't terrible at the time, but given where his game is now ( 949th in the World..), I think Michael Campbell is a good candidate.

But he did hold off Tiger to win that U.S. Open so you have to give him credit for that.

Orville Moody. Watch the film of the 1969 U.S. Open: he won despite putting like a 20-handicapper. It's the only top-level tournament he ever won.

Rich Beem-his win at the PGA is his only top 10 in a major in his career.

True. He played in 28 majors and missed the cut in 16. Other than one 15th at the Masters and a 20th at the British, he never finished higher than 40-something in the few cuts he did make.

Ian Baker Finch has to be considered for having plummeted off the face of the golfing world after winning his British Open. He was no one-trick pony as he had won on 4 continents, but his career certainly took a major spiral down with his inability to hit the ball. In a British Open appearance with Arnold Palmer (Arnie's farewell) he hit his tee shot at number 1 at St. Andrews O.B. Many people attribute Finch's collapse as a major loss of confidence because he could still stripe it on the range.

You are joking, aren't you? Check the rankings and money list.

I think Michael Campbell is a good candidate.

That might be fair comment in a "Where are they now" or "fallen off the radar" thread, because Campbell's game has totally gone, at his best, he was as good a player as you'd ever see. He got a bad wrist injury quite early in his career, threw away an Open Chmpionship, and reemerged from nowhere to win that U.S. Open. But.....he really was an amazingly gifted player.

I agree. It's a shame how it's turned out for him. A drop to that low in the rankings is staggering.

Paul Lawrie is a possible candidate. Won the Open thanks to Van De Velde and won 4 other European Tour events in the late 90's/early 00's. Of course, it's ridiculous to knock any Major winner, but he always struck me as a guy who maybe didn't quite deserve the Major he won.

I wonder how much knowing that's generally how people feel affected his confidence and game.

Who's the worst player with 2-majors?

John Daly......

I would have bet on Lee Janzen or Andy North - John had more talent and more game - just mental problems.
