Nice. Do want! Can you give a quick rundown of the key differences between Home and Pro versions?

If it's half as good as the Scorecard, it'll be awesome. The interface looks great.
I have a Mac and currently run the V1 Home version on bootcamp. May I be cheeky and ask what are the differences between V1 and Analyzr?
Also, any plans on a download version?

Looking forward to the demo!

Off the top of my head, Pro will do recording of analysis, will have the full library instead of limiting you to 20 videos (for your models and things), Pro has a cooler importer, Pro will export to still images or movies (to disk or email)... The actual tools will all be the same. There's a split pane you can drag around in both.

I'll have a full list later on when we start to build both versions out.
If it's half as good as the Scorecard, it'll be awesome. The interface looks great.

Plus you haven't seen some of the subtle touches that really kick butt - drawings fade out when you erase them, for example. Importers let you scrub through a movie with your mouse like you can in iPhoto (through a stack of photos). Video looks better.

In Home, I don't know. Not much. We support more video formats (particularly if you've installed Perian and Flip4Mac). Ours looks better. Ours has split panes (does V1 Home? I don't know.). Ours will run on Mac OS X, so you won't need Boot Camp.

Also, any plans on a download version?

Not sure I understand. Both versions will be "download" versions... we're not shipping any physical products here. Just some 1s and 0s.

$59.95 and $595 (with introductory pricing lower than that).

looks nice.

You've seen some analysis in evolvr done with it.

Did you design this yourself?

Design? Yes, basically. Not the icons, but the application, yes, mostly myself, with Dave Wedzik's input too. Actual code? Though I could have, we outsourced most of it so that we'd actually be able to start selling it in 2010. I've been busy. The app would be half done or less if I'd been writing it.

Why Mac? No Windows version planned?

Nope. We have our reasons, and based on my experience, they're good ones.

Also because Windows users generally don't buy software very often. There's much more of a return on developing for OS X, as people are used to paying for well-designed software.

Erik, are you testing on lower-end hardware? The only Mac I have just now is a first revision MacBook Air. Will there be some sort of demo version to check performance?
In the bag: Titleist 909D2 9.5°, 906F2 15°, 585H 17°, AP2 710 3âPW, Vokey SM 52.08 & 58.12, Studio Select Newport 33", Pro V1X.
Home course: Lenzie Golf Club. Working on: ball striking.

I recently just got a very portable tripod setup that I intend to use to record my swing, but I'm a bit worried about my camera options at the moment.

Initially I was planning on using my iPhone 4's 720p camera to easily record my swing since I have an iPhone dock that connects to tripods, however it would only be shooting at 30fps. After reading the "filming your swing" post, I realize that frames per second is really the thing I should be after (makes sense), but that'd be investing in a new camera.

Would 720p @ 30fps work, just not as well, or would it really be ineffective all-together? I'll make the investment if I need to, but would prefer the convenience of using my phone.

Either way...really looking forward to Analyzr's release.

RubxQub, it works with an iPhone, esp. when you already have one - but videos with 60fps and up are much better to see/analyze. In April I bought the Casio Exilim EX-FC100 for around 160 US. The camera performs nicely at 210fps and enough daylight. You might get other cams of the bay for little money...

You read the article, so I think you know what my answer would be...

If you're at all serious about your swing and don't want to record it only so that you can watch it in realtime speed (i.e. not slowed down), then you owe it to yourself to get a camera. They work for other things too, so it's not like you have to spend $200 or $300 JUST For golf.

If your computer can run Mac OS X 10.6, then you'll be fine. Yeah, we're testing as low-end as we can. The only thing that will be slower for you is loading the movies and playback of large HD movies, but if you're happy with the speed movies play in QuickTime Player now then you'll be fine... Plus, I doubt you're going to have a bunch of HD movies that you'll use. Almost all swing video is a smaller frame size - nowhere near 1920 x 1080 @ 60 FPS (the 240 FPS is only the capture speed - those videos still play back at 30).

There's only so much we can do. Basically, performance will be whatever you get with QuickTime Player. On the bright side, you're not going to be drawing lines or doing any analysis while video is playing back. You'll step through, draw some lines, step through some more, draw or compare lines, etc.

Indeed, the FC100 or the FH100 or the FH25 are probably the best out there by far. The FC100 just lacks the ability to control your own shutter speed, which is a bit of a downer (and why brighter days are better for it).

Was looking to not buy yet another camera (I've already got a DSLR, a camcorder and a tiny point and shoot in addition to my iPhone), but none of the items I own are really up to the task.

Sounds like I'll need to convince the wife that this is a good investment somehow :)

Thanks for the recommendations of camera, too!

    • I was going to start a thread, but this seems like the place.  Yesterday I played my matchplay match at my local club.  My opponent is a notorious sandbagger by reputation.  The pro once pulled his tournament rounds from the past several years and said that it is impossible his tournament rounds are legit based on his handicap. here is what happened last night.  I am getting 4 shots from him.  His current handicap index is 15.3 i shot 45 on the front.   Was down 4 after nine, he had three birdies and shot even par. I was closed out on thirteen, we halved with a bogey.  That bogey put him one over par for his round.   He then took a triple on 14 and then left. As if that wasn’t bad enough, he lied about his score.   I wrote down on my scorecard what the score was.  He put higher values that didn’t affect the outcome of the match to pad his score and apparently make it not look as obvious.   He shot 36 on the front, but claimed 40.  The higher values for his score were in the online scoring app our club uses.  He did it this way: I won #7. He had a 2 foot putt for par that if he made would still lose the hole.   He picked up and said it didn’t matter since I won.  He took a 5 instead of a 4 after picking up a gimme. on #8 his approach shot on this par 4 was 8 inches.  I verbally conceded the putt but I had hit into a hazard.  I finished the hole with a 6.  Instead of birdie he put in for par. on #9, another par 4, his approach was to 18 inches.  I missed my par putt and then knowing how close I verbally conceded the putt.  I missed my bogey putt, he never conceded mine.  Instead of birdie he put down a bogey. He padded his score by 4 shots on the front.  And then did again on 10.  I rinsed one and made 6 on a par 4.  I putted out and he was fishing balls out of the lake so I drove off to the next tee.  He had 15 feet laying two but claimed a 5.     love to know the odds of a 15 handicap being even thru 12 holes on a round of golf.
