You've just hit a 7-iron off the tee into a stiff breeze on a level, 195-yard par 3. (You are a good ball-striker, by the way ) You walk back to your bag to return the club and head to the green.

Do you:

a. Nonchalantly toss the club back in the bag with no thought of a specific location, because it is just a big, open free-for-all in there?

b. Put the club into whichever divider happens to have a free spot, not worrying too much about mixing wedges with irons and such, because you know your clubs don't recognize class distinctions?

c. Put the club back into the exact same divider it was in, as each of your clubs has a very specific home to go to and it would feel lost otherwise?

d. Not only put the club back into the exact same divider it was in, but place it in the exact same location amongst the other clubs within that divider, just because everything has to be in its right place!

I have to admit that I myself have a duel personality: C-player on the course, but a D-man when the bag is at the house.

I have a very specific location for each club in my titleist bag. The bag has 6 divisions, and if you were facing the bag as it stands now in my bedroom, you would see

1st divider (very top) - mizuno blade putter.
extremely old and graying, she relies on some lead tape to get her through the long, cold nights. placed so that the flange rests snugly over the lower partition. that way she can keep an eye on the younger generation.

2nd divider (top right) - titleist driver and 3-iron.
these are the 2 clubs I hit the least, so they generally just keep one-another company most rounds. 3-iron outboard of the driver, just so folks know its there...

3rd divider (top left) - mizuno f-50 3-wood.
this club is such a player that it gets its own private bungalow, as it is coming and going at all hours of the day. it knows how cool it is.

4th divider (bottom right) - [from right to left] --> 4-iron, 5-iron, 6-iron.
ah, the mid-irons. my favorite tenants. always pay on time and never throw wild parties.

5th divider (bottom left) - [from right to left] --> 7-iron, 8-iron, 9-iron.

good kids, though notwithout their own quirks. 7 is at that age where he thinks he knows everything, so he sometimes gets in over his head. as the middle child, precocious 8 is not quite sure who he is, and some days he goes 165, while somedays only 145. the little guy just needs to find himself. and 9? she is always trying to prove that she's better than P-wedge, and she's usually right! she'll go far in life.

6th divider (very bottom) - PW, 52-degree GW, 56-degree SW, and 60-degree LW.

the wedges....the workhorses. I don't really ask them what they do in there, because they always find a way to get things done, and truthfully i really don't want to know...lol

Hope everyone has a great holiday!

I put group certain clubs together, but actually I would be in both of the last two. I have the Ogio Grom bag that has the Woode organizing system. There are 4 full length slots along the left side that hold my Driver, 3 wood, hybrid and Speed Stick (the training aid, not deodorant). There is also a sepperate putter well. There are three three more larger sections that hold my irons. Top 4 and 5I, Middle 6-8I, Bottom 9I, PW, GW, SW. I always put the irons in the same section, but they do occasionally get mixed up.

OMG!

Everyone knows that the 7 iron has to go into the space where you took it from and that is with the 8 and 9 iron. It doesn't have to be in order, but it has to go in there.

I have a staff bag so it goes like this.

Top left - Driver, 3w
Top right - 2h, 3i
mid left - 4, 5, 6i
mid right - 7, 8, 9i
bottom L - pw, sw, lw
bottom R - putter

Now I do have the flexibility to put the lw with the putter depending on my mood and I can let that ride even when I am not taking my medication for OCD. LOL....

I thought I was the only one out there. It is nice to now that I am not alone thanks to these support groups...I mean forums.

TourSpoon, you are doing better than I am. I could never relax knowing that my 60 degree and my putter were co-mingling. That would absolutely drive me crazy. But it is nice to know that I'm not suffering alone.

But I gotta be able to control something on the golf course, you know?

It's the only thing that I have left....POWER over my clubs...now if they would only behave when I let them out.

D-man at home. A-man on the course. I try to put them back in the same spot but usually I'll forget and just jam it in wherever seems open. But I do have specific spots at home. My bag has four dividers in it.

Top: Driver, 3 wood.
Left: 3-6 irons.
Right: 7-PW.
Bottom: 52, 56, 60, and putter.

If I ever hit my 7-iron 195, let along INTO A BREEZE, I will take off my shirt, carefully wrap the club in it, and carry it all the way back to my car even if I am on the hole farthest from the parking lot and it means losing the 2,000 dollars worth of skins I'd amassed up to that point. I will lay it across my back seat, making my 3 buddies cram into the front (or onto the roof rack) and drive to the nearest metallurgist where I will have the entire thing anodized in 24 carat gold, and then encase it in solid rock crystal. Back home I will build a shrine to it so big that it would embarass Elvis. And I will pray to that 7-iron every night.

Because only god could perform a miracle like that. At least with MY swing

My Ping bag only has 4 dividers.

The top divider holds my driver, 3 wood and putter. I figure they determine 75% of my score so they can have the penthouse apartment.

The middle left and middle right have my 3-5 irons and 6-9 irons respectively.

The bottom divider carries the 4 wedges.

I always replace them into their correct spaces, not because of OCD but because I make a mental count of all my clubs every time I replace one. That way I can tell right away if one is missing.

Every time sounds a little OCDish. I know because it sounds like something that I would do. LOL

my clubs stay grouped together in specific groups, but there is no way i can keep them in some particular order, that would be way too much work. i have a 4 divider bag set up like this: top-driver, three, hybrid and putter; middle left-3, 4, 5; bottom-6, 7, 8 and 9; middle right-all three wedges. they don't have to be arranged in any particular order, but they have to be in the correct divider.

Due to my CDO (let's keep the letters in alphabetical order!), I keep my dividers organized as such:

1. Driver
2. 3W 3H
3. 4H 5I
4. 6I 7I
5. 8I 9I
6. wedges
7. putter

Of course, it helps to have a 7-divider bag. The putter is a side divider and the wedges are along the bottom. When I was carrying a 4I in addition to 4H, it went in the pocket with the 5I.

    • Day 113: 4/18/24 Stack training progress check after finishing my 6th program, and 4th Full Speed Spectrum Training session, which is recommended for my next program.     Gained 1 mph with driver, 195 g, 95g. Maintained with 280 g , and gained 2 with 145 g. Lost 1 mph on both lead and trail arm. Felt like I lost distance in my last round…
    • Please forgive the sweaty shirt.  Just got off the treadmill and decided to do my Evolvr drill.
    • I'd agree that 4w seems like the right play here. I'm not a course designer or anything but that hole looks like it could be so much more fun if everyone played from those front 2 tee boxes that are right outside your shot cone and they cut down most of the trees down that left side of the fairway. That would give risk reward to long hitters who want to try and push it up to that left fairway, allow more players to reach that second fairway, and still allowing it to be perfectly playable for someone who only hits driver like 150yds off the tee.   Yeah it looks like 4iron aimed at that inside edge of the right bunker is the play there, especially if you don't expect a 20mph tailwind again. If it is down wind again, 5iron would be just fine too, it'd still get you inside 150yds for your approach.  Keep in mind tee marker locations too, you measured that one from the back so if those tee markers are moved all the way towards the front of that box then 5 iron is probably best just to be sure that right bunker is never in play.
    • Day 1: worked on my drill for my arms.
    • Hit my tee shot just into the penalty area and barely found it. Swung hard just in case I hit it. It was slightly downhill with a heavy tailwind. I don't actually hit my 9i 170 yards.
