Lately I have been hitting a substantial straight draw with my mid and long irons. My short irons and wedges are generally straight or a slight 2-3 yard draw.

However my mid and long irons start straight but then draw probably 10-15 yards.

My understanding of the ball flight laws is that the club face is square at impact, but I am swinging to far inside to out which is causing the huge draw. Is that correct?

Well if they're truly starting straight then your clubface would end up being a bit too closed. With a draw you want to start the ball to the right to give it room to draw back in; and 10-15 yards of draw isn't really that bad. I would try opening your clubface up 5* and start hitting them right down the middle.

I think you are on the right track in your thinking. Sidespin is a result of the differential between the clubface angle and swingpath angle (measured from the target line). Since your shots are starting straight and drawing, your likely square at impact with an good in to out path.

The fact that this is happening more significantly with the long irons makes sense, they are more difficult to time through impact. To hit the type of draw you'd like (starts slightly right of target) make sure you are keeping the handle forward at impact. I like to visualize that I am hitting the ball with the back of my left hand.

Yep, correct. Square at impact is a nice problem to have, though. Decreasing the amount of in-to-out in your swing is relatively easy compared to many other swing flaws.
