the other day we were playing on a par four dog leg right and there was a pond about 180 yards out. I hit it over the pond, but my friend got a bad hit and sat it in the dry pond. So he goes to creep down in it, and there he goes up to his hip in mud.

I was with this same friend again and it was our first time to play this course. We are on some trail through the woods when suddenly we drop over a hill with huge rocks. Needless to say when we got done. The cart wouldnt turn right, nor would our parking brake engage.(we were supposed to be going to a par three back there, i think that par three was the trail on the left.)

There was once I played with my running shoes .

While swing my woods on the wet and slippery ( FLAT ) fairway , i lost my balance and felt on the ground !

Apparently i swing too hard and too much weight shift .

There was once I played with my running shoes .

true story, Hunter Mahan used to play in tennis shoes. When I played in the Kiawah Island FCWT tournament against him (not in the same group mind you), I saw him on the range without golf shoes. I think it was the norm for him. Probaby like practicing in bare feet, allows you to keep your balance and tempo.

in regards to embarassing...I was playing with 3 guys about 6 years ago. I was struggling and was dropping f-bombs, GD's, JC's, etc... and go on to ask the 3 guys what they do for a living. One guy answered he was a pastor. Didn't say another cuss word the entire round and felt like a tool.

Once during a round on a very windy day I had a shot from some muddy rough. I was into the wind and hit it fat and the mud went flying into the wind and then right back at me. I was literally covered in nasty mud the rest of the round.

First tee box with a bunch of people watching, take a huge swing and hit it fat with the driver to have the ball only roll inches from the tee(not the tee box)...

Also, while playing with some top female juniors in the area, I hit a huge drive only to duff it 3 times from 80 yards out to get it to the fringe...

#9 of the course I used to be a member at has a highway running down the right side. I didn't have a driver because my knockoffs couldn't handle my swing speed (couple flying drive heads in the past few years) so I took my old driver with a regular flex shaft and threw it in my bag just to have another club in there. So #9 I decide to hit my regular flex shaft driver (all my clubs are stiff shaft I am a big guy with a powerful swing). I hit my usual high trajectory shot and I figured the shot would slice because of the shaft but I didn't expect it to slice THAT much. I hear a car coming in the distance and of course I smoke the cap of a truck. Luckily he didn't even notice drove up to the light (longest light of my life) and took off... I felt like a jackass.

Ever have those moments you slice a ball toward a house...and you just wait...waiting to hear glass breaking :)

anyone have any good club throwing stories.

My father tried to win the long distance throw with his 3 wood one time..I think he got to a point where he wanted to stop..but it was too late, the club went sailing into a giant willow tree....clubhead fell out of the tree..the shaft didn't :)

I have played 1 course lined with houses, and I will never do it again! I was so nervous about hitting a house I probably topped about 25% of my shots. I did put one in someones front yard.... and yes I did play it out of their yard I even got a crowd looking out the windows and laughing.

Once in high school I yanked a drive left on a dog leg par 4 into a big window of a house. I just knew the owners would be waiting for me to come by so that they could hit me up to pay for it so I turned back around and went to the previous hole and played around on the green for a few minutes. I was watching the house from the green and see the guy come out, get in his truck and then start cruising the street looking at the hole to see who hit his house. I was so scared he was going to ask if it was me but I guess he figured since I was on the previous hole it couldn't have been me. Now days I would own up to it but I was scared to death back then haha.

My buddy and I were playing after a really good rain so it was cart path only, well we both hit both our drives to the same spot just right of the fairway. When we get up there, there was a mini river going through the fairway, we both thought we hit the ball over the mini river so we get out looking for our ball. Comes to find out that we were both about 5 yards short and instead of walking all the way back tot he cart and around the mini river we decide to try and jump it. Well it was wayyy wider than any of us could jump, we try and find a place were the water was just low enough for us to cross without getting too wet. He gets a nice spot and makes it without getting all that wet, my miss my spot and land in a deep hole getting my shoes, shorts, and half my shirt wet. I could hear my wife laughing her ass off back at the cart, and after I get out of the mini river I see my buddy on the ground laughing. Oh what a fun day that was!

Playing in the club ryder cup on a miserable rainy day last fall. I couldn't hold the club and was watching a rather promising start go down the drain. I swung and topped the ball, barely hanging onto the club. In frustration I smacked the side of my golf bag with my club. 3 holes later in need of my 5 iron, I pull it out of the bag and find only half the club in my hand. I proceed to check my 6, 7, 8, 9 iron and all are broken in 2 at mid shaft. My partners laughed their asses off. I was really embarrassed. Bought a nice set of stiff shaft Cleveland CG7's this winter and love them.

Playing in SoCal once and teed off on a hole with a pond right in front of the tee. Club flew out of my hands and right into the middle of the pond. Jeez

I hit a house that the homeowner thought couldn't be hit. It was a massive pull hook left, I mean probably if you paced center of fairway to that house it would be 200 yards left... That was impressive..

I pull hooked a 7 Iron on a 165 yard par 3 and it landed on the upper deck of some apartments where there was a large glass sliding door. I could hear it rattling around between the balcony edge and apartment wall. But no glass sound. As I approached the green after my third shot the guy who rented the apartment came out and threw me my ball and said "better get some lessons as this glass is expensive".

There was once I played with my running shoes .

For the near future, I'll also be playing in tennis/running shoes. Until I decide to shell out the cash for the Tour 360 4.0s that fit me perfectly, I can't walk a mile each way and do a round in between wearing my old ~10 year old golf shoes (worn perhaps 30 times, since I didn't play between 2001 and this year) that kill my feet. Haven't noticed any slipping issues yet, though I'm not a hard swinger.

What's in my Tartan Precise TS-869 Bag:

Irons: 855 R flex steel shaft 5-PW, Golf Pride Tour Wrap midsize grips

Lol you're not liable if you hit a house on the golf course, they assume all liability. I wouldn't play out of their back yard though, thats messed up not to mention usually OB.
