How about a 7'6 guy with the swing span of a 7' guy?

Nothing like a 2 year old thread coming back to life.

A 7' tall player, with a 7'6" wingspan swinging a driver at 135+ mph would be a sight.

I play an I20 with 46' xx shaft tipped 1/2. I have a SS of just over 118 but I have slowed it down and tried to shorten it as well. My driver carry is around 280 with ball speed of 186.

5 iron carry is 185 but I have drastically shortened my iron swing as well.

Driver:(This video TaylorMade R11 with Ozik X flex)

5 iron:(Mizuno Mp68)

Not bad for an old man.....

I'm in awe.  subscribed.

I'm a new golfer and am 6'4" with a 6' 6" wingspan and my swing speed avg's 110'sih.

I drive 240'ish comfortaby with a few 280's

truth is its possible to have that swing speed thought why you are only carrying out 300 yds or so doesn't make much sense. A guy at Roger Dunn the other day stood about 6'4"-6'5'' with a good, fast well balanced and aggressive attack. He was using a stock  new driver out of one their barrels 45 1/2 " his swing speed on Foresight system was 126 or so and he was walloping the ball with some carry out to 340-350. Athletic build, maybe 205 or so, 27 years of age. I just don't understand if your swinging at 130 mph why you don't swing with a 48" long driver, take all the water, traps and trees out of play and go have some fun. Why look a gift horse in the mouth?

just wanted to say this thread is an absolute riot, especially with Building 7 checking in from out of the blue.  I am just getting back into golf after a many year layoff and am using the SwingSpeed Radar system to clock. I know its a little generous in its readings compared to Foresight and probably Trackman. But its a good way to train and note when a swing is faster and more efficient since often times in sports, feel is NOT real imo.

You cant help but laugh at internet golfers who think they need an XX-stiff.

I wonder how many pros use XX stiff shafts for irons?

I can believe the swing speed, i would have to see a video, my averafe swings are 130 ish. If i really give it a go i have gotten to 144mph. With a club head speed of 131 and smash factor of 1.47 carried 375. If you are saying you had a smash factor of 1.45 and swing speed of 130, it would carrg a lot farther than 290.

Yep playing at sea level in Sfl and heavy salt air helps higher s/s's. Lol plus the swampy fairways give you a ton of rollout too. Plus hitting into 20mph gusts helps spin ratios only in SFL too.

That would be somewhere between Bubba@127 and Jamie S.@146

I wouldn't be able to tell anything from a 30fps video how fast a swing like that would be, but I do know that with that speed he could cut a lot of doglegs and drive most par 4 greens on public courses. Must be nice.

25 years ago when my waist was 31" I was considered a long hitter. On an early monitor I hit 130mph range s/s. It stopped the store I was tested in. I played a few pro am's back then and would fly the longer hitting tour pros. One said cuz why you not out here with us getting paid?

I told him, look I was 15 playing traveling legion baseball witb a 90+mph fastball when I tore a rotator in the age you were done if that happened. So being a pro level jock swinging a golf club came easy. Now having to play foul balls was a different game. I then told him due to that injury I changed paths formed my first software company and by 25 I was making six figures PER DAY. So why would I play golf for money? It would be a major pay cut.

True story.

But at 130 mph even with old technology you drive many par 4's, you hit mid irons into long par 5's and the wide open courses you tear up.

You play a tight course and your lenght means nothing.

130mph is fun but hard to control.

I guess you would use a 3i off most tees?

BTW, are you retired (presume early) at this point?
