Anyone have the new Ping Hoofer C-1? I've used a model of the Ping Hoofer bag for the last 12 years or so. I would tell anyone that they are the best bags that you could buy. I've always loved the way the stand works without having that big foot that sticks out on the bottom of the bag.

Well, I've had my eye on the C-1 for a while and I actually won one at a golf scramble. The bag is great, but the legs are horrible. Ping stand bags have always had the issue of the legs hanging down slightly when you're carrying it, but the C-1, they hang down way too much for me. I returned one bag to Ping because of this, they sent me a new one, and the new one (three days old) is already doing the same thing. It's so bad that my legs hit the legs of the bag when I walk. Unacceptable.

So, no more Hoofer bags for me. I'll get another brand and just deal with the foot sticking out on the bottom; at least the legs will retract up the whole way.

Anyone else have this bag and have this same problem?

The stand probably isnt hooked up right
the things should cross and insert on the opposite leg
i had this problem for awhile and i crossed them up and its fine now

You think PING would have messed up two bags straight from the factory?

On small children in SE Asia know for sure....

OK. So I looked last night at the legs and the metal wire things that go into the legs which makes the legs open up. They are not crossed, but if I were to cross them, it doesn't appear that they would fit? Right now the left metal wire runs up into the left leg and the right metal wire goes into the right leg. So, if I were to cross them, the way the metal wires are angled, how are they supposed to go into the legs? Could you maybe take a picture of yours so I could see?

i used a hoofer for most of the 2010 year . it was just ok
really liked the pockets and thatsd about it
didnt like how it was a tad shorter than most bags, somehow it was damaging my graphite shafts (driver 3-5w) nad hated the retractable stap

went to a Sun Mountain bag 3.5 superlight...so far so good

tried on the new C1...didnt like it

THey hook in on the outside and like wrap around
so the left one goes into the right slot on the outside
teh right one goes into the left leg on the outside.
ya there are better bags in terms of straps now but its a pretty solid bag

OK. I think I see what you're talking about. So, on your bag, just a clarify, you have the plastic black clamp thingy that is holding the wires together, then above that plastic thing your wires are crossed over each other and going into the opposite leg?

I'll try that when I get home. The way the bag is now, though, all previous Hoofers that's I've had, are the same way but all have had this issue with the legs hanging down slightly, just not near as bad as this C-1 is doing.

I remember when I played in high school, our team bags were the Ping Hoofer 2s... and I really liked that bag, had thought of it as kind of the standard for stand bags. A while ago, I had picked up a Hoofer Vantage stand bag and was very excited. However, that faded as it just wasn't as good as I remembered... I found the pockets to be a bit smallish (I usually keep my shoes in the large side pocket and it was a real tight squeeze) and the full length dividers that I was looking forward too (my Hoofer in high school didn't have them) didn't do that great of a job. Ended up selling the bag and picking up my Ogio which I really like.

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

yea I had a old hoofer bag when they first came out. That was one of the things that bugged me, the legs drooping a little. Its because of the design on the bottom of the bag, without the shoe like structure on other stand bags, the legs dont lock in as tight when carrying. My legs would always bump into the bag legs when walking, it was annoying.

I have used Hoofers all through juniors, high school and college golf. It was the gold standard for bags, I still have it from college. Our last year, we switched over to Nike gear, and I hate that little foot.

I like Ping bags, but yes, the leg hangdown has always bugged me. I can't count how times one of those has gotten caught up in my pant leg.

I have 2 older Hoofers, one I've used for the last 15 years. I've never had a problem with either other than drastic color fading on the first. Nothing is crossed with the legs/supports on either one. Has something changed recently with their design? Could it be the whole made in China so quality stinks thing?

No Hoofer I've ever had (or seen) has the wires crossed that support the legs. This may be the fix for it, but I don't think it's designed to be like that.
