Hey guys,

I did a quick search through the forums and didn't find anything about this product, but I just wanted to know if anybody has used this or owns one? From the youtube videos and description on their website, it seems like a great product. I really like the fact that it's portable and doesn't require any installation. I'd like to continue practicing in the winter and this seems like a good purchase.

Any thoughts?

Hello,

The TruGolf Newport Portable Golf Simulator is an outstanding golf simulator.  For the price, and footprint, it is UNBELIEVABLE.

Got one in my garage, and my wife and I, just got done playing a round at Firestone last night.  Both of our golf games will be untouchable come spring.  I highly recommend it.  A few of my friends and I chipped in and bought one, we rent it to other guys that did not chip in, and it's paying itself off.

Good Luck, anymore questions, just ask.

How long it takes to get thru a round...?  And, what do you charge they guys that didn't chip in?

...Just curious

Most simulators take about 30-45 minutes for a round. It's not too tough to play quick when you have the exact distances to the pin, no walking and no waiting lol

I'm more of a fan of Full Swing's simulators...but they're also double the price of these.

Waiting out the 2 feet of snow that just dropped on the course....

Very interested in this product. How hard is it to pack up/move around? What do you move it in? Is it easy to operate? How critical is the lighing? Thanks

A tad pricey! How about the "Opti Shot"?

The Opti Shot is not bad for the money.  I have one.  There are 2 things I don't like.

1) You must use a fluorescent light source.  Other lighting produces errors (even mixed lighting).

2) If you take a divot(correctly after the ball contact) it reduces your clubhead speed and your distance suffers.  It encourages you to hit it thin.

If you can live with those things, then it's pretty cool.

Sorry about the delay in responding.

I can finish a full 18 holes at a challenging course like Spanish Bay in just under an hour, and be only about 13 over par.

We charge the people that did not chip in on the simulator, $15-$20 for a round of golf, each person.

Loving the system.

We have been enjoying a feature on the system call By The Book, it awards points for fairway shots, GIR, and Two Putt or less, as well as birdies, then it penalizes for 3 putts or more, 3 putts it will reset the hole score (the points that you have accumulated for that hole), more than 3 putts it resets your entire accumulated score up to that point of play.  Really fun, and levels the playing field when playing with golfers of different ability.

**Just had to throw that little tidbit in about By The Book**

What do you think of the Golftek Pro 7 system?  I have been reading some reviews on other golf websites and, while it requires a lot of work on the user's part to build a cage, hitting surface, screen, projector, computer, etc., it seems like a very good swing analyzer with course playing also available (but not the primary purpose).  Any thoughts?

    • Day 76 - Pretty sore today, so I opted for putting over my Stack session. Primary focus was on starting line, as my putting has been pretty poor this year.
    • Been a bit of delay in updates but I needed to come back east as my mom's health has taken a serious turn for the worse. In a 3 day span we learned she had a tumor to she has stage 4 cancer and stopped eating and drinking for the most part. She has had a rough 3 months but certainly didn't think we'd be at the point of setting up hospice for her. My mom was never into any sports really other than following the Red Sox because my dad was a big fan. She always cared about what we were involved in including asking about how golf went.  I have kept up with my 5 minutes of daily practice and will go to the gym here in NH tomorrow morning. Despite the somber nature of this trip my family has commented more than a few times about my weight loss so it's important to me to keep it up. I know my mom always wanted us happy in whatever we did so I'll continue with my fitness journey keeping that in mind.
    • Day 109- Putting drills on a putting green for 20 minutes.
    • Day 252: did a stack session. Did some slow rehearsal swings during breaks.
    • Day 82: 3/18/24 Tried a Stack session but could not certify my warmup. Finished with indoor chips and putting.
