Titleist 907D2

Anyone have any experience with this driver, or a thorough review? Looks really nice at adress, and they are cheap as all get out on eBay. I don't ever recall hitting one, but have heard from people that still think this is Titleist's best driver ever produced.....?

I think I would want a 9.5 stiff.

It's a really good driver, a couple of my lowest rounds were with the 907D2. For my swing it was a little bit high-spin, but a $15 Prolite 35 Xstiff fixed that problem. I'd still have it but I stumbled on a 907D1 w/ a genuine Blueboard, and I gave the D2 to my brother.

I have actually heard the opposite.... that the 907D2 wasn't a highly recieved driver. I have heard the "best driver" comment made about the 909 though. I played a 10.5 905R and then went to a 9.5 907D2. I really dig the 907D2 and haven't had a reason to seriously consider buying a new driver.

i have heard the same..the D2 series was not Titleist's best product
to date the 905 series has been the best, up till the 910....right from a Titleist rep
909 series is really good, but i guess the 905 was the shiz....

i have owned the 905T and 907D2 and now the 909D3 (havent hit the D3 yet tho)

i will tell you this.......IF you are getting the 907D2 you MUST try it with a Graphite Designs Aura RED Shaft
i hit this combo the year before last most of the year....and it is a great combo
most didnt like the 907 series, but i really did
there was a tour only D4 that was released that i really wanted...but it was like $400 plus w a premium shaft

so long story short, yes i liked the 907D2 (it has more spin than the 905 series) but w a low spin shaft, its a good driver

i have tried a brands of drivers and i have convinced myself that Titleist makes the best drivers on the market...hands down

I had one and didn't like it, but I think the V2 shaft was too much for me.
I am pretty sure that Iacas likes his.
But generally speaking, they were not a big hit on theTour, and guys went back to their 905 drivers almost immediately.
Having said that, if you find the right head/shaft combination, it could work well for you.

Back to your original question, though, the 907D2 would probably (almost certainly) be the least successful of any Titleist driver, certainly in the last decade or so.
Are you sure you aren't confusing it with a 983k or 905R or T?
The 909 drivers are very good and the 910 will probably be extremely successful. Good looks and adjustability.

Yes you must be correct, I think I was mixing the 907 for the 905. Anyways, I hit the 907D2 with a Diamana Blueboard today, and it was really nice, and I was hitting it 10 yards farther than my FT-9, i think due to the reg vs. stiff shaft. I really liked it, and it was only $87, and it had some mild chatter, but nothing affecting the performance. I also hit the 910 today, and that thing was just amazing. It was a 9.5 D3 with the RIP stiff, but it wasn't any longer than the 907 that I compared it to. I personally, enjoyed the 907, and for $87, why not right?

I had one (907D2) as my first driver (bought it second hand). While the results were ok (bit too much spin though), the shape and the sound were annoying me to no end. It was Titleist first attempt at a 460cc driver (afaik) and the triangular shaped head looks just huge at address. It sounded kinda tinny to my ears and I resold it a few weeks later.
From the 907 series, my vote goes for the D1. Otherwise, as the other guys said, the 905 series is awesome and the 909 was a big success.

i think your confusing the D1 and D2
the 2 was a more traditional pear shape and the D1 was the triangle

I played the 905R for over a year and loved it. It was stolen (along with the rest of my bag) so I decided to upgrade to the 907D2. I tried to give this driver a fair chance but I was never happy with it. I played the stock shaft for a month, produced too much spin, so I put a custom shaft in. Same result. I talked to a few reps and the consensus was that Titleist missed the mark with the 907 series. After Titleist came out with the 909 series, I switched to the 909DComp and immediately saw an improvement off the tee. Better sound, trajectory, feel, spin rate, etc. I recently hit the 910D2 and enjoyed it but didn't get to spend enough time with it to recommend for a purchase. However, if I were in your shoes looking for a driver, (if used) I would definitely try the 905 or 909 series over the 907.

Oh, that's right! sorry about that and thanks for the correction
Either way, that says a lot about the impression that driver left me ! (The 907D1, that is. The big triangular one)

Again, just being devil's advocate here-I played the 907D2 for about a year, and I've currently got the 907D1 in the bag. I think the key for D2 is a shaft change if you put a lot of spin on the ball. Something tip stiff/low launching. The D1 just flat out works for me, and a small tungsten weight on the back removes any of the hollow, tinny sound. My friend has one with a Xstiff Proforce V2 and it's the most accurate driver I've ever used.

I have been playing the 907D2 for 2 years now and am happy with the driver, mostly however because I really like the shaft that I have in it. If there are any negatives on the 907, it will certainly have to be the high spin numbers with higer swing speeds. You can tame this with the shaft but it still isn't optimal. That said, I play it because it's comfortable and didn't feel the need to dish out money for a new driver over the last two years. For the price point that you are looking for on eBay, you can't lose.

That said, I demoed the new 910 yesterday and placed my order in today. The spin numbers I had with the D3 version of the 910 were amazing and matched my higher swing speed. Not only was the carry 5 yards more than of 907, the estimated roll was 10-15 yards more; plus, the ability the adjust loft is a great move for titleist.

I have had the 907D2 in my bag since 2009, really like this driver, feel really comfortable with it and haven't yet found any need to upgrade.  A good review on both D1 and D2 is here:

A buddy of mine has played the pga and nationwide tours for along time and has been sponsored by titleist for many years and his opinion of that driver was the worst driver titleist has ever made!
