Hi, can anyone point me to an instructional video on how to hit a fairway wood using S&T.; I seem to manage my irons and even my driver but my woods of the deck are shockers.

Thanks

this is a hard shot in golf thats why you are having problems hitting them. I had a little bit of trouble with them until I started to practice hitting them at the range during my sessions. Now Im pretty confident in hitting my 3 wood off the deck, I can even hit the driver off the deck now. Play the ball a little forward of the center of your stance. Use lateral hip movement like a driver but make sure you are hitting down like an iron. Just treat the three wood like you are hitting an iron off the deck and try to take a divot after the ball. Not saying you need to take a divot but this will help alot.

Agree with this... treat you're fw wood similar to your driver... this is what I've been doing and it's been working for me.

I had been having issues with hitting a FW, both before and after implementing some S&T; this year. I just could not consistently hit the ball well...lots of fat shots and topped shots. I found a clearance 3W at Dick's with a stiff shaft (everything else I have is R-flex) and decided to give that a shot. It's turned into a nice little weapon for me...I've found that it helped for me to visualize taking a small divot in front of the ball before and during the shot; really concentrating on bottoming out in front of the ball. In my last three rounds, I hit an approach with it onto a par 5 green with my second shot (a rarity for me...just don't usually have the distance), and two intentional fades around doglegs that were two of my better shots of the fall.

I used to struggle with the FW's, but not anymore.

Put the ball just forward of center, and your hands slighty ahead of the ball.

Make sure you get your weight to your left side and hit down on the ball.

I noticed when i started watching the front of the ball my FW's were hit a lot cleaner.

You dont really want a divot, but you need to hit down on it ever so slightly.

Thanks for the feedback and input guys. I found this piece of magic while browsing. It may already be on this forum somewhere for all I know.

Some of you may already have watched this, I think it really helps me to picture in my head what it is I am trying to achieve.
