i have just returned from my vacation in orlando when i was there i visted a well known golf retailer to buy a tm r9 driver with a reg shaft.
straight away the salesman tryed to sell me one with a stiff shaft i tryed the club in the net and on a launch montior the club felt good but the launch moniter conviently turned of before i could check the results the salesman assured me the stiff shaft was a perfect fit.
against my better judgement i bought the club with the stiff shaft on returing to the uk i tryed the club with disasterours results no height on shots a slice no matter what setting i try i can not make it work.
i have looked at getting it reshafted here in the uk but it will cost me more than i payed for the club.
has anyone had a similar experince and could they give me a idea of the cost of reshafting the club in the us.
i hope to return to florida in march needles to say i will not visit the same golf chain.

Ummm... maybe that guy had over-stock on stiff shaft R9s...

However, considering your handicap, i guess you have a decent swingspeed, so to have a stiff shaft should not be a definitive cause so you can´t hit a single good shot. Try to tee the ball higher, stiffer shafts than the correct ones should cause hooks, no slice shots. So maybe the problem is your swing and not the club.

If you feel confortable at address with the club, give it a try. Check how the shaft and weights are set.

Re-shafting a club here in Madrid is not usually worthit. The R9 460 is on sale (at the store i usually go) for 199€; i once asked for re-shafting my 3 wood, the grafalloy blue shaft was 150€, and the UST Proforce V2 cost even more than that.

I am sorry for my poor english, but in general i believe that stiffer shafts are less problematic than softer shafts.

Why don't you just go to a golf store where you live and demo one with a reg shaft and see what happens

its not the club. a fitting is important, but a stiff to a reg shaft is not going to make it all of a sudden hitable.
