Thought it would be an interesting and funny topic to discuss, have you ever hit another golfer with your ball before? If so how did it happen?

I'll go first, I was teeing off with a 3 wood (hadn't yet came to terms with my driver) which I usually hit quite well. The hole is fairly straight, and from the tee, the previous hole's green is say 30-40 yards to the right. Anyway, a foursome were walking up to the previous green, and sure enough, I hit possibly the worst shot I could have, maybe 2 feet off the ground and swerving right towards one of the guys! Needless to say it was a sore one, although believe it or not, my ball bounced off of his shin directly back onto the fairway. FIR i guess.

i've never actually hit anyone, but i've come pretty close a couple of times. most interesting instance to me was a par 5 hole, and the group in front of me was a good 320 yards away from me. i hadn't really been hitting the driver that well that day, so i figured they were safe at that distance. and well, they WOULD have been, except my ball faded in, hit the cart path, and bounced straight towards their carts. i called out fore, and watched my ball go RIGHT at their cart, then vanish. so i hop in the cart, drive on down and i'm all apologetic, asking if anyone was hit by the ball, etc. the guy is like "no, no one was hit, but... you ball landed in our f'n BASKET, man!" as in the little basket on the cart between where the bags sit and the back of the seat. even if it had hit them, it had taken 2 or 3 hops by the time it got to their cart, so i don't think anyone would have been actually hurt. we all had a good laugh about it, though i frankly wasn't sure how to rule that as far as dropping it.

When I was a noob we would get paired up with this other couple constantly.

The husband liked to ball hunt and was dead right of me, maybe 20 yards away when i somehow mis-hit and buzzed it right over his head.

His wife just cringed but never told him - he was oblivious to the whole thing

I was hit by an older gentle mans drive. It hit me right in the stomach. I thought he could care less that he did it because he sent his friend over to apologize. I was mad that he didn't yell fore but was informed that he could due to throat cancer. He was scared because he was older and I was standing there waiting on him. He had some type of device in his throat so I was fine afterwards. Had the welt dimples and all for a few days.

I have done this twice. I know you guys do not know me enough to trust me, but both are true.

First one is one the tee of a par 5. I swing too hard as usual and the ball goes on a low line drive and hits a fallen tree and goes over my head, over the fence behind me, bounces on the street behind the course, and hits a woman who is in her car waiting to pick up her kid from school. She starts screaming as if I executed this shot on purpose.

The second time was very funny for two of us in our group. On the 17 hole my buddies hit their shot to the 200 yard par 3 17th hole. For some stupid reason on of my buddies goes to his cart and stands next to it which is off to to the right. I am having a ton of trouble with my lefty slice and my other buddy says, "aim at Sean and you will slice it towards the green". Of course I hit the only straight shot of my day and it hits Sean right in the arm. He starts cursing (which he never does) and then throws my ball. I tell him we are assessing a penalty for playing someone elses ball. He starts chasing me but I was laughing too hard to run.

I was at a local executive course about to tee off on the courses signature hole, a 115 yard down-hill par 3 with an island green. I was with a friend of mine and there was another twosome close by that we just joined up with. There was a foursome on the green, and we waited for them to hole out and watched at they drove their carts off to the next tee. I was first to tee off so I began doing so, and was waggling over my ball. I hit it, and as soon as I looked up I saw one of the carts to the left of the green. I pulled my shot very badly and I saw it going right for this poor old fellow, who was going back to get his wegde. I yelled fore and so did the guy in the twosome next to us but before he could react, my ball went "THUMP" and smacked him right in the back. I sprinted up to see if he was okay, and he was fine, I apologized and everything was okay. But, man that ball went so high in the air came down so hard I was thinking for sure it would hit his head and kill him. Scary...

Thought it would be an interesting and

Not sure how funny it would be if a person were to be seriously hurt by the golf ball. If a ball really did bounce directly off his shin, I'm surprised it wasn't broken. From the sound of it, he let you off without much hassle which means you lucked out. I've been hit by shanked iron shots while I caddied and even though they don't come fast they can do some damage.

Every year it seems I have a near miss on hitting someone. It's usually the same scenario: Right on my downswing, someone from another hole will blunder into our fairway without watching where he's going. I yell fore, and the other guy looks at me funny after the ball passes.

From my caddie days, probably the most dangerous shot is a snaphook. It comes in low and hard. Took one in the lower right ribs. Shot came from about 120 yds. away from an adjacent hole as I was washing a ball on my group's teebox. The guy apologized, and when I finished caddieing a soda and sandwich was waiting for me back at the clubhouse.

Ive never actually hit anyone. Ive had 2 real scares though.

First was like 2years ago when I first got my driver. It was like a long narrow Tee Box With tress really close. I of course hit a low screamer that hooked right into the woods. Then right away from the other side of the woods where I had just hit that ball we hear a "GAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!" as if someone had just been shot. Im pretty sure I turned white in the face and ran through the woods to make sure the person was ok. It was actually a green on the other side and the guy had just missed his birdy shot an hadnt even ever seen my ball. I was like LOL/Phew!

The other were these 2 18 year olds that Blatantly cut me off to by jogging up to the first tee. They were probably the worst 2 golfers I had ever seen. Im talking like 10+ on every hole for each of them. We get to the first hole you can use a driver and I waited and waited for them to get close to 270-300yards out and hit my driver. I usually wait till people are further but I was soo sick of waiting. They mustve been standing 15-20ft apart and I absolutely killed my tee shot. It felt soo good I knew I had to yell fore! right away. The ball landed right inbetween the two of them haha. After that they actually sped up. But I felt bad and was scared crapless.

i was at a local par3 course and as i was getting ready to hit the ball i saw 3 guys come running into my fairway, so i stopped and waited for them to clear the fairway and as they were walking past us they asked us where the local hospital was. we gave them directions and the one guy was bleading alot and had a towel covering his eye. a few minutes later the guy that hit him was telling us that the ball he hit hit him in the eye.. they all went to the hospital, never heard how he made out..

My only experience hitting in to someone was out at this par-3 that is about 185yds. I'm playing solo and this was the second hole in a row where I had a fairly long wait at the tee box for two older guys in front of me, so I had my ball teed up and ready to go once they leave the green. I see them get in their carts and start to pull away, so I step up, it feels good so I pull the trigger, meanwhile these guys drove their cart maybe 10 feet and stopped while I'm teeing off, and I draw it a little too much and stand there in absolute horror, and my dumb ass is too shocked to yell FORE, but luckily it bounced off the roof of the cart. I made sure to apologize immediately. As karma is, though, on the next hole, a short par 5, I get hit into standing in the fairway waiting for the same guys (blind tee shot). And I ended up finishing my round with the guy who hit in to me.

Then again there is the story of your first tournament at the hills where you had a bit of the first tee jitters. 2 old couples that were to tee off after us decided to stand by the seniors tees as we tee'd off from the whites and you buzzed (buzzed may be a strong term lmao) 2 right by them without them even understanding what you were apologizing for.

This was my second season since I started golfing. I've yet to hit someone but I did hit someones cart this year.

I was playing the 9th hole at my home course. The fairway dips down in the middle so you can't see the group ahead of you. Most people will wait to see the carts start going up the hill to the green rather than driving up to the dip. I see one of the carts start heading up the hill to the green so figuring the other was right behind I go ahead and hit. I hit a high draw down the left side of the fairway, I bend over to pick up my tee, look up and the other cart is driving back towards the tee box and I see my ball fall out of the sky right on top of their cart. Luckily my partners saw the cart coming back and yelled "fore" so they were cool. On the 10th tee I apologized and let them know what happened.

Career Bests:

18 Holes--80 @ Carroll Meadows Golf Course(+9)

Witnessed a close call once. NJ high school state tournament. A fellow competitor and friend of mine tees off and bombs it. We all notice the ball is not cutting and is probably going through the fairway at this big tree about 300 away (seriously). Standing right at the base of the tree was one of the coaches. We all start yelling fore and he hears us thankfully at the last second and ducked out of the way. When we caught up to him he said he never saw the ball, but heard us just in time. The ball hit the tree trunk right where his head was.

I was hit in the arm about 7 years ago, nothing too bad though. A shot came in from another hole that I never saw, it clanked around the trees, hit the golf cart and then hit my arm. It didn't have a lot of juice left by the time it hit me. Didn't even leave a mark.

A college teammate of mine said he was hit in the mouth once. Can't imagine that was too pleasant.
