My step is turning 9 in January and his height is pretty much about right to step up to a new set of clubs. I think he could play his current clubs for a little while next year but I think he will need some longer clubs soon. I got an email from Edwin Watts with a 20% off offer on Junior sets for the next 2 days with free shipping. I am debating on going ahead and getting the clubs now and just putting them up until next year when he needs them. Should I go ahead and buy these or just wait until he actually needs them?

His current set includes a 3w, 6i, 8i, wedge, and putter. The new set that I am looking at includes a driver, fairway wood, 5, 7, 9 irons, SW, and 2 ball putter. So the new set would be more of a complete set. I am getting him a four wheeler for christmas so he doesn't need anything else, but 20% off with free shipping is almost too good to pass up.

Anyway, I just thought I would throw this out there to get some opinions.

Yeah, the US Kids set is what he has currently. I may go with another set of US Kids clubs because they are on sale as well.

I used the Callaway XJ set and it was a good set for me. Lasts until you reach about 4 feet 10 inches. I would highly recommend.

Well, he wouldn't know he had them until his b'day.

Those are actually the ones I was looking at. They were the only ones that I saw had a left handed set.

You mean he's left handed! Oh no, turn him around LOL

Haha! It's actually not bad. It makes teaching him easy because my swing is a mirror image to him

I do apologise for that sly remark, my old man is left handed. Has a killer slice on him :)

I guess its hard to determine what size he will need in a years time, but i suggest you do/get whatever will benefit his game. I remember when i was a youngster, never played much golf, but dad used to cut down clubs for me to bash around the back yard.
