I'm surprised that there was no thread for this, so I decided to make one.

I really want to get tickets to a UConn basketball game at Gampel Pavilion, but as a freshman it's kind of difficult to do so. Anyway, it's obvious who my favorite team is, how about you guys? Predictions for the season?

Although I'm a loyal UK (Kentucky) fan for college bball. It kills me to say that I think Duke will take it again this year.

I'm rooting for 2 teams this year, although the last one doesn't need much cheering, cosidering the success of their program.

I'm a WSU Cougar (Pullman, WA) graduate and they are looking very tough this year. They've been on an upswing the last 5 or 6 years, but went through a 're-building' year last season with a new coach. They look really good this year, they are currently 8-1, with the only blemish being a 5-point loss to #5 Kansas State. They are my 'sleeper' pick of the year for the tournament, I think they could go into the sweet-16.

I've been a big Duke fan for over 20 years, they always seem to be a class act, smart players and smart coaching. This year they look better than ever!

The thing about Duke is that as of now, they aren't playing any ranked teams for the rest of the season. Not a single one.

Not too many noteworthy teams left on that schedule.

I actually think any of the teams in the top 10 less tenn and baylor have legit shot at it. I like Pitt this year they seem to have deep bench for the first and obviously a great defense. The great thing about ncaa basketball is it's all about what team gets hot at the right time.

The Michigan State Spartans have been a total disappointment this year. They look completely different then they did last year I don't know whats going on. Everyone in my area was hyped for their pre-season No2 and they are almost off the rankings? ><

Yeah they look pretty bad right now but they always seem to make a run in the tourney so I wouldn't worry.

After losing to Penn State (lol?), there's no reason they should be on the rankings come next week.

The UConn-Texas game was pretty interesting, to say the least, but it was nice to see the Huskies come out on top.

Huge Ohio State fan.  They will go far in the tourny and have a great shot at winning it all this year.  We are 2-3 deep at every position, something we haven't been the past title run years.  Sullinger is a beast and it takes the heat off of Diebler who will drain 3's all day.  Craft is a traditional point guard who gets everyone involved.  Lighty and Buford are the veterans we need.  Look out for the Buckeyes

As I said earlier it's all about match ups and what team gets hot at the right time. Ohio State looks great right now but come tourney time the may have some injuries or face a team they don't match up well against. A great example is syracuse they play a basic 2-3 zone but some teams just get ate a live by it for no reason other than they lack the players to break it. March madness is a great thing so you never know what will happen I still think OSU is good shot to make it far but it only takes 1 game to bring it all down.

Duke is the unanimous #1 team right now, but the ACC simply isn't a good conference this year, and they won't be well-prepared for a repeat performance. All the Bigs (Ten, East, 12) are stacked this year, and I expect the teams in the national final to come from those three leagues.

    • Angle is not a factor. I hit the ball 100’ high. Par is net birdie. My CH is 16. The rough between the bunkers is like 10’ wide though. That’s not something you’re going to try to hit on purpose. Most of the area to the left of that is fescue/native vegetation and I’m pretty sure there isn’t a flat lie in any of it. It’s the second hole.
    • Hello all.  I'm about to be 57 yrs old, started playing when I was 16, and have quit and restarted the game more times than I can count.  I had started playing a weekly round with a friend, and finally made the jump to Senior A shafted Tour Edge clubs.  Instantly gained 10 yds with an easier swing (why didn't I make that jump sooner???).  Glad to be a part of the group. Cheers all,
    • I think I like this hole.  It is a clear "Risk-Reward" choice.  Since most of the shots in your cone cleared the bunkers I would say they are a minor risk and not a big issue.  Playing the aggressive line may give you 70ish yards in from what looks to be playable rough while conservative play is 120ish from fairway.  I know you said 70 vs 120 is minor for you but how does the approach angle in impact your results?  I figure both strategies are playing for Birdie since holing out from either is mostly luck. Looking at your proximity hole I think it says @ 50 feet when hitting from the fairway from 100-150 and 40 feet if hitting 50-100 from the rough.  Neither of those is an easy birdie putt.   I like the approach angle from the rough between the bunkers & the adjacent tees over the angle from @ 120 in the fairway but I really do not like the idea of hitting onto the adjacent tee boxes and that may impact my confidence with making the shot.  Also, too far left may be a worse approach angle then from the fairway short of the bunkers. For me this may come down to how confident do I feel when I reach that tee box.  If I am stroking it well off the tee leading up to the hole I would try for over the bunkers and the better angle in but if I am struggling that day I would likely opt for the fairway to take more bad stuff out of play.
